Mayor Bloomberg has decided to supercede the city council's proposals to ban smoking in NYC with a totalitarian one of his own, backed up by his own hand-picked gestapo, Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden and his agents.

On Monday, August 12th, the mayor made his proposal public -- 

TO BAN SMOKERS EVERYWHERE IN NYC

In his acceptance speech on Nov. 6th, 2001, Bloomberg said the following:

"We must put aside anything that divides us.  This is NY and it's going to be for all New Yorkers."...

"...Except for those 'stupid' and 'crazy' smokers."

MAYOR BLOOMBERG WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT ALL THE PEOPLE IN NYC.  THE CITY DOES NOT REPRESENT MAYOR BLOOMBERG.
 

Smokers have been the only ones burdened in this city to sustain it financially with an exorbitant tax increase meant to fill the coffers and punish us at the same time.  Only sadists kick people some more once they've already been knocked down.

If we can't smoke in public why should we pay the public's taxes?!  It is smokers' money that nows pays for the upkeep of public places and continuing services.  Where else do you pay for something and are denied access at the same time?

And don't hand us that line about how the smokers wouldn't be banned.  In relation, in 1969 when gays were told they couldn't assemble in places where the owners were happy to serve them, gays weren't banned either.  What was forbidden was acting gay, so this is really the same abuse.

Who owns the restaurants and bars anyway??  It is certainly not city-owned or public property.  It is PRIVATE PROPERTY where the owner ALLOWS the public to enter.

Whether you smoke or not, we call on all defenders of democracy to join us in denouncing such government infringement on private property rights.  It is NOT a health issue, it's a freedom of choice issue.
 

Allow them to discriminate against one segment of society and they will come for you next.

When the health-Nazis came for the smokers,
I was not a smoker,
therefore, I was not concerned.

And when the health-Nazis attacked the obese,
I was not obese,
therefore, I was not concerned.

And when the health-Nazis attacked the drinkers and the alcohol industry,

Then, the health-Nazis attacked me and the freedom loving Americans who remained,
and there was nobody left to be concerned.

I would never consider blowing smoke in someone's face so long as they weren't in my face telling me not to smoke. Smoking should not be banned anywhere except where there are hazards other than humans, such as oxygen. It should be left up to the homeowners and the business owners. People can choose to work where they are comfortable. If smoking facilities bother them, then let them go elsewhere as I do if I can't smoke. Since when are anti-smokers privileged citizens? Some of the same people who don't like us putting smoke into our bodies don't have a problem with women aborting since it is their bodies. But even then they are hypocrital by denying the other body that is being ejected. But that is for another thread. The point is that there is no logic in what they are spewing, only selfishness on their parts. They want to go where they wouldn't be wanted or where they wouldn't normally want to enter in the first place just to be able to say they can.

Your Cousins in Calipornia were told and actually believed the same exact thing when they started registering firearms there.

Then the GunNazis got a few more laws passed and they used the REGISTRATION lists to notify residents that they had so many days to either turn in the Weapon or Remove if from the State or face Legal consiquences.

Smoking laws are not about health or they would outlaw Vehicles plain and simple. It is about the control of the masses by a bunch of Nazis that use propaganda to mesmerize simple minded idiots into believing that Big Brother has all the answers.

You know what the two hospitals and the health care centers did up here? They went completely smoke free! Not even in your private vehicle on their lots! And that means the patients or the nurses or Doctors. No smoking. I am afraid that I and others will neglect our own health because, speaking for myself, I do NOT want to go there.

I told Bubba, do NOT take me to the hospital unless I am in a coma or unconscious. How miserable.....to be in such a stressful situation as a hospital, and there is no place for comfort. Can you believe this?
