President Bush will provide a badly needed cash infusion for Bill Simon's gubernatorial campaign when he arrives in California this week to host three fund-raisers.

But the trip also comes at an awkward time for the president, who has sought to distance himself from corporate scandals. He will be stumping for a candidate with a recent $78 million business fraud judgment.

This is due in large part to the migration of the liberal New Yorkers who after destroying their state, like a cancer, seep into others seeking what they can destroy.

The Left is like that.

I knew a far-left woman who moved from Wisconsin to California. She kept talking about how she loved down-to-earth midwestern values, but her bulletin board at home was covered in Left-Demo activist buttons. She thought the GOP "scary" and loved govt, loved Clinton. Hated Reagan, hated Rush, hated Newt.

Even so, she hated what California had become -- crime, incivility, road rage, even hated the taxes. And so after 17 years in California, she moved to Florida -- where she will no doubt vote for Reno.

The women are also an issue of course they never should have been given the vote, too irrational.

Pete Wilson was a rare bird -- a centrist who shifted right at election time. Most Republicans, conservative or centrist, will either stand their ground or move to the center.

Wilson was the only politico I recall who shifted right.

Wilson was the only politico I recall who shifted right.

And Wilson carried California four times.

The only other politicians to do that in my lifetime in major campaigns (Gubernatorial, Senatorial, or Presidential elections) are Ronald Reagan and Alan Cranston.

What purpose does spelling California with a "K" serve? Just curious.

You're exposing your age again, youngster.

You call Clinton, McCauliffe, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, James Carville, Paul Begala, Ellis Henican, Julian Epstein, Alan Colmes, Al Gore etc. etc, RATIONAL?

Would that make Laura Ingrham, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan etc. etc. IRRATIONAL?

I spell Kalifornia with a "K" as well. Thats because it's become a fascistic state.

Other times, I just refer to Kalifornia as North Mexico.

You're right, Kalifornia is a lost cause. Thanks to changing demographics, I doubt if we ever have a Republican governor again.

I'm sure you've been told how pathetic your attitude is towards women and the vote. You do this just for attention?

If the Republicans in Kalifornicatia can't get off of their dead butts and vote this year, they deserve to live in that liberal hell. We sure don't need that kind of apathy here in New Hampshire!

Here's my two cents worth on the women's issue:

I recall hearing a preacher on the radio say it was a mistake to give women the right to vote. Women want security and will vote security. Men have failed them and not provided them that security.
I was really fuming when I heard that and changed the channel. Then I started thinking there is a kernel of truth in that.

In California, it was touted that Gore got the majority of the women's vote. (My gut reaction was, that preacher could be right.) Then, they broke out the demographics. The majority of married women voted for Bush, while it was the single women, especially single mothers, that voted for Gore.

Single mothers tend to look for government to take care of them, instead of providing for themselves or having sense and/or fortunate of marrying a good man, who will help support them and their kids.

This could also not be a gender issue, in that applies to anyone "group" who gets dependent on the government.

OK. Let me have it.

I vote every year! In 2000 I was on the phones during election day and the media screwed us. When they called Florida (Pennsylvania, Michigan et. al.) early, alot of the Republicans I called said the election was over. Hence the million plus extra votes for Gore, liberals in general and liberal wacked out causes.

What really happened is we lost alot of close seats in the Legislature and State Senate turning the State way left. Thanks to our friends at CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN.

How about MEDIA CAMPAIGN REFORM????

The number of Dems vs. the numbers of Reps in CA won't make a bit of difference because the numbers are just overwhelming.

Women also tend to be less rational and this gives them the urge to be compassionate with others peoples money and fall for the "feel good" rhetoric of Dems. While Im sure married women voted Repub in higher % then single women I bet its less than even single men.

Bush pumped in millions of dollars, visited there frequently and even had thousands show up at his rallies... If Bush couldn't do it why would have faith that an embattled first office seeker with a civil judgment could do it?

compassionate with others peoples money

That's the key.

BTW, I'm a Republican working woman, who is married. I get very frustrated when some women (and some men, to be fair) fall for the "feel good" rhetoric and don't see the hypocrisies of the Dems. Dems are some of the richest people in Congress, and I have seen them yet do anything that really helps the poor, such as getting them off welfare, becoming self-reliant, and getting a good job, while keeping most of the wages they earn for themselves.
