Which State is the Armpit of America?
Arthur Wildfire! March

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.

They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.

Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?

Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.

Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

Mississippi

...that is, until the day the squirrel went beserk
In the First Self-Righteous Church
In the sleepy little town of Pascagoula
It was a fight for survival that broke out in revival
They were jumpin' pews and shoutin' Hallelujah!

gotcha! ;o)

I take it you love all the socialism taking place in your home state.

No, I don't like it. But I couldn't think of a better place to carry on a political fight.

No offense but I have been to Alabama, spent a weeks there a few years back, no thanks, you couldn't make me live there....I'll stay in California and fight it out thanks....

Good luck in Alabama.......

East Detroit is pretty close to the top IMHO. There was talk of putting up a wall between Grosse Pointe Farms and East Detroit.

Eastpointe(A blue collar suburb with MUCH less crime than Detroit) used to be the city of "East Detroit". It changed its name when it got confused with the East Side of the city of Detroit.

Well, speaking to the lower income factor; you have to consider that our cost of living is lower. For instance, we have had a huge number of $500,000 homes cropping up, of late, homes that would most likely be $1 million or over in California, New York, Boston. As to low education, we have a lot of industry here which is a good bit hands-on. Besides, from what I have been hearing of the education system in some of the non-flyover states, the schools are mainly indoctrination camps. Just because money is being spent out the wazoo on each student doesn't automatically mean that the student is getting a good education.

I think it is funny that I touched on some things that some Californians on here gripe about their own state, but because I am from a flyover state, it is something to get offended over.

Please tell me what is so great about North Carolina. I grant you it is a pretty place, but it has the homliest people I have ever seen. Seriously, whenever I go to a mall or department store I am amazed by the lack of attractive people.

What you are observing is all those New Yorkers and New Jerseyites who came down to go to Dookie U (better known as the University of New Jersey at Durham) and the State Institute of Communism at Chapel Hill to get their degrees in hypenated American studies and transgendered studies, etc. When they couldn't find employment they just stayed and live off the people's taxes..........and yea, they would draw a blister on a slop jar, especially the so called females that walk around in public in combat boots and a crew cut.

I'll give you the Whiskey, but Hollywood has HENRY WAXMAN. That bastard makes John Conyers of all people seem alright.

I decline to vote until DC is granted statehood.

Not to argue, but he asked where the armpit was, not where to stick the nozzle. ;^)

"...But I nominate Chester PA as the crown jewel of east coast slums.

For the midwest, the award goes to Decatur, Illinois, where Staley's and ADM create their own weather systems over beautiful Eldorado Street!

I been to Nebraska several times. Outside of Omaha, it's nothing but flat farmland. Hell, it was boring to fly over!
