Which State is the Armpit of America?
Arthur Wildfire! March

Posted on 08/07/2002 4:23:30 PM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.

They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.

Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?

Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.

Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

It is now a Fascist, left wing hellhole. I use the word Fascist because the idea of Free Enterprise in Mass is if you know some DEM politician, your enterprise is free. If not, you are not allowed!

Ding! You win a cookie! I couldn't have said it any better! In terms of armpits Masshole is a pro among amateurs!

All I know about illinois is that everytime I drive accross it on I-80, the G-D roads are always tore up and there's always a traffic jam.

Having spent 18 days covering over 4,000 miles of this country this summer, I have a few new opinions of the various states I visited. My most impressionable memory - Dothan Alabama had cockroaches that could take down my 100 lb. golden retriever. I was on tour as a volunteer with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp and we slept in classrooms at various high schools near our performance venues. When we were ushered into the room in Dothan, there were about 15 HUGE cockroaches on the floor - 14 were dead and I shooshed the other one toward the men's staff room. Oh, BTW, this was their home ec room......

Florida was just one huge steambath - imagine rain without the drops. Texas not only felt hot, but almost everything they eat is extremely hot - to me this is redundant. I'm already sweating (or as we ladies say "glistening") I don't want to sweat from the inside too.

My favorite stops were Michigan (South Lyon) and Enid, OK, it was hot but they had a private shower for the 5 of us women who toured with about 150 guys. This promoted those people to sainthood in my eyes.

Since most of us accept that liberalism is the measure of armpitness, why not get mathematical about it. Going by some list that was posted last night of each state's conservative rating in both Senate and House (I'm sorry, I don't know the source from which they got it), we can add up the two figures to see which state scores lowest on the conservative index. And the winners are....
1. Massachusetts (9)
2. Hawaii (15)
3. Rhode Island (38)
4. New York (39)
4. North Dakota (39)
4. Vermont (39)
California managed 40 points from their representatives alone, probably from the conservative middle, and finished out of the running with 47 points.

Hey, I love my home state and think it has the greatest history but you know what... I also despise it. It is a love/Hate relationship. :D

As I have posted, I think Cali has some of the most Conservative places on Earth and I admire them. Mass has NONE. Mass, even in its GOP strongholds(20%) is all RINO. I just have to note that certain areas of Cali are the most liberal places on Earth. Hell, they are too left wing for the communists! LOL!

My point is, I am trying to hear peoples gripes about liberalization. It is not meant as an insult. I love my state but I harp on it all the time. Unfortunately, I may have to leave it for the reasons I mentioned. Even more unfortunate is the whole New Hampshire issue but I will ignore that for now..

Your state is about 40 times the size of mine so we are not talking about EVERY region, but you are the looney state of the world. Bear in mind, I said that Mass was more insane then Cali so that might give you an idea of what I mean.

Bunny: yes! Your are so right. I live in Oregon, and I'm hating this place. We're staying 'cause my husband's parents are aged, but upon retirement and when they've passed on -- we'll be OUT OF HERE. Washington is no better.

These people ask questions like: If your folks put you up for adoption, is your pappy still your brother?

Doesn't most of the incest porn originate in California like the rest of it does?

Bah... You didn't offend me. You have some valid points. After all, it is Chicago where the phrase "Vote early, vote often" originated. Politically things are bad, which is why I tried to list other good things about the state.

I have found that there are nice people anywhere, even in the heart of downtown Chicago, but you are right. Downstate, people are more friendly.

I still think it is a great state and a decent place to live.
