A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

~ ~ FREEDOM'S WORTH IT ! ! ! ~ ~ by LadyX
Those early colonists who established the concept of a land free from England's harsh and restrictive rule surely kept that cry in mind!
From Lexington to Concord - from Trenton to Valley Forge - Charleston to Savannah, and echoing in the halls in Philadephia where the Continental Congress was shaped; men who crafted the birth of a Republic kept the idea foremost in their minds.
More than 200 years later, we still repeat the cry; America a bright and shining star among the nations of the world.
One of our Free Republic members chose that screen name to denote her own beliefs - that a nation dedicated to God and His principles could grow and prosper.
It is with enormous pride that today we present and honor our very own Freedom'sWorthIt !!!
Freedom'sWorthIt
Member since August 7, 1998
Knowing of my long association with Freedom'sWorth it, Billie asked for my help with the lead-in. Nothing could please me more, being privileged to meet in her in person in November 1998. In Charlotte, North Carolina we had a gathering of CAROLINA Freepers, FWI traveling from Raleigh, NC and I from South Carolina to attend.
Our friendship grew and deepened through e-mail and Freep mail, both of us Christian and committed to promoting a conservative America.
She was among those who attended the 1998 March of Justice in Washington, D.C. She is one of THE most compassionate, passionate and well-spoken among our many Freepers. Her expressions on a broad range of subjects are without fail from the heart and beautifully articulated.
It is with pleasure that I add first my own recognition to you, Freedom'sWorthIt!
My thanks to you, LadyX, for being our Guest Writer today; I knew you would do a beautiful tribute, for I've seen the expressive way you have with words. You know that you'll be called upon again!
My thanks to you, FWI, for all that you do and all that you are.....you are truly one of FR's Finest, and I hope you enjoy your day in the !

"You were from the Mountians of North Carolina?" Hey! Just as I might be related to dixie sass, you might be kissin' kuzzins!
On my mother's side were Scots who settled in North Carolina in the 1700's!
Her mother was a Dickson, who graduated from Columbia College in South Carolina in 1895 and married my grandfather.
They were married in the Washington Street Methodist Church in Columbia, near the state capitol, and her father participated in performing the ceremony.
He had been an associate pastor there previously; and my grandfather's minister father was there as well.
Course I'd claim you two ANYWAY!!
LOL

Hugs back to you, dansangel. :) I'm having a lot of frustrations today - extremely slow responses, time outs, etc. So, that being the case, I'm going to TAKE a real timeout, and get some other 'stuff' done.
I'll be back later.

There were several places in North Carolina that my Mama's family took vacations. I remember her talking about Lake "Junealaska" (at least that is what it sounded like) and of course the Fowler family is from NC. Anyway, Freedom'sWorthit, you have a beautiful state from the Island where the wild horse run to the Tennesse Border, from the Virginia border to the SC border.
The Tarheel state provided the early Navy with most of it's naval stores. Tar, turpentine, rope, tall trees for the mast and etc. Your state has produced some of the finest Americans who ready, willing and able to give in one way or another for their fellow Americans - one look at the State of NC and we can understand why you chose Freedom'sWorthit.
To: LadyX; dixie sass
Well, My dad's ancesters were English and Scottish settlers. They were for the most part, Baptists, Methodists and, Presbyterians.
We might just be related. Though my dad's family migrated to NC around 1801 from Virginia.
I am into geneaology. I'll also claim you as cousins! LOL!!

" My husband had just finished bushhogging (that's mowing)" Unnecessary explanation, Aqua...I just happen to be The Most Wicked Wielder of Weedeaters on the planet..:)))
In North Carolina I had built a home on a 1.34 acres lot, carving out just the driveway among the hardwoods.
I LOVED keeping the undergrowth in check, as well as around the house itself; the bushhog a necessary attachment for thinning out the young saplings.
A neighbor here in South Carolina observed one day "Did God assign you to keep His whole world tidy?!!"
Yep...:)))
At 85, I'll probably still be here mowing and weedeating and grubbing in the soil.
And the kitchen sign over my stove will STILL say 'CLOSED' - LOL

Thanks, again, Billie for the beautiful new LOGO for moi!
Yes, freedom is worth the fight! One reason is the alternative for us as human beings is degradation, destruction, and oppression - which is exactly what the Hillary Clinton led Demonazi's want to impose on this country - no matter WHAT it "looks like" - they want and would bring us full blown communism if they could get away with it
When I was in the sixth grade, I read a book called:
"What Is Communism". This book was in our school library (I am sure it would be banned now).
That got me started thinking about the antigod, antihuman "ism" that has brought misery, suffering, and death to multiplied millions since its heinous inception into the thinking of man.
I found out about the beasts: Hitler (a SOCIALIST - not a right wing extremist as is depicted today)
Stalin (who starved millions to death in the Ukraine and had millions of others taken away in the middle of the night to never be heard from again
Mao (who brought his little red book to become the "gospel" of the godless in Communist China and who throught the "Cultural Revolution" brought death and destruction in China unlike anything ever seen there)
Pol Pot (we know about his killing fields---almost 1/3 of his nation's peoples killed????)
Castro (who has turned a once beautiful Carribean island into a hellhole but who is still hailed as the ICON of America's communists led by Hitlery and Dan Blather!
Cauceasceau in Romania (who was finally, thank God, overthrown and removed from this life - something that apart from Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, the grace of God and the blood of the martyrs and the prayers of the saints, would never have happened!!!)
Sick, evil, socialists / commumist oppressors are out there waiting to do the same thing to America - to you and to me - that they did to all these other nations and peoples.
Today's terrorists are allied with the world's communists -including those inside our own country - including that NY Senator - and are bent on destroying our country.
As a nation, we Americans must be involved in the battle - through prayer, through work to overcome evil with good, through getting "out there" on the front lines or "in there" working in the background however we can - and, IMHO, need to spend as much time on our knees in intercessory and confessing prayer (and praise) as we do working (and even Freeping!!!) if we are to have a chance to defeat the evil that is about to swallow us up!
Sometimes I go off into these "prophetess" type rants - please forgive.
But I have seen what is "out there" and know that we must always undrestand that the evil "out there" wants those who love God and those who love freedom "outathere!"
Our job is to see that we have done all we can do to fight them and then, having done all (including prayer) we just stand....trusting Him to carry the day.
Freedom is worth the struggle.
By the way - if you want to irritate a communist/socialist/liberal - ask them how valuable to them is human freedom! ASk them if our founders were right to treasure freedom! And, yes, we had slavery at that time - but we do not now! Ask them if they think supporting nations who promote enslavement of others - like Communist China, Communist Cuba, all the Islamic nations - is something they favor?
In other words - pin them down on the value of FREEDOM as human beings and their true "colors" will shine out!
Because - as their "hero" once said - they ALL BELIEVE - that in America - we had all these radical ideas about freedom here.
And one more thing - it is no accident that President Bush uses that word "freedom" very very frequently. As a Christian, he knows and loves the fact that God built a longing for freedom into every human heart! America is the last bastion on earth where that value continues to be held in such high esteem...thanks to the advance of the Globalsocialists and Communists and Islamic terror masters.
And, I thank God that I am still (at this moment) free to attend a March for Justice or a rally for the true election winner or to post the things I do regarding those who would destroy us if they could get away with it!
End of rant.

Yes we must cousins, CS! And definitely are SISTAHS, as Lady X says.
North Carolina is blessed with beauty in our mountains and in our seashores that pretty much makes us truly "the goodliest land under all of heaven" (what early settlers here proclaimed!)
Guess that's one reason I have lived my whole life here. Who wants to leave a bit of heaven on earth?
