'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings
A Florida man claims to have designed a safety bullet which locks up a gun when it's accidentally fired.
Mike Worley says his simple invention takes gun safety to another level.
He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum.
The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet.
If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell is removed with a special tool.
The News Herald reports Mr Worley has applied for a patent for his invention.
He says several companies are interested in his design, and one has started making a prototype.
Mr Worley, from Panama City, says he supports the use of guns and understands why people need a loaded gun as protection.
He said: "I think the safety bullet is a step in the right direction. I don't want fame and fortune. This is a simple device that takes safety to the next level."

I have a better solution. It is one that's been in use for hundreds of years. Training and education. Amen bro. We just keep hammering that home. See my 218 and 229.

The show was "Cover Up." You wouldn't have needed a crystal ball to predict what followed:

I did a search and Hexum was on the show, "Voyagers". He was doing a show called "Close up" when he decided to win a Darwin Award.
The explaination that was released for the Brandon Lee accident was that the gun was used in some close-ups and they were using dummy rounds that were put together with no powder or primers. They were hand assembled. When they unloaded the gun, Supposedly, with a capital "S", one of the rounds dropped a bullet in the chamber. Then, when the gun was used with blanks, the bullet was fired using the blank's discharge.
Brandon Lee was rumored to be a spoiled, pain in the $%^&. A very disliked individual.

Thanks. I wonder what the verdict was for a guy who puts any loaded gun to his head and pulls the trigger.
To: Shooter 2.5
a guy who puts any loaded gun to his head and pulls the trigger. Which points out the dangers of the "safety bullet" - thinking a gun is safe to play around with.

Can you tell me what's so wrong about disabling a gun that somebody left laying around where their kids can get to it and only takes a second to chamber another round without the fumbling of a trigger lock? You have GOT to be kidding!!???!!!?
My guns are NEVER left "laying around".
Further, my kids are smart enough to remove the "safety bullet" if they HAD to use a gun for self-defense.
Stay safe; stay armed.

Did I mention you?
Gees, maybe I should have. It's not like you're the safest guy in the world to be around. LOL.

It's not like you're the safest guy in the world to be around. LOL.Yes, I had a brand new M1 Garand blow up in my hands. You will notice that no one else, including my daughter, pictured above, was close enough to be injured. I was wearing safety gear and was not injured that badly.
The incident occurred at a gun range with the safety on, the M1 pointed down range and after receiving training on that particular weapon. I did nothing unsafe and to imply that I did is unfair and inaccurate.
Stay safe; stay armed.

We may have teased Eaker over the incident with the M-1, but I can assure you that it was not the result of poor safety. I would not shoot with someone that was not following proper gun safety.

I was writing about your thumb!
LOL.
Darn guy, lighten up. I was going to write that the girl can show you how to hold a Glock without getting hurt but I thought that was mean.
I even thought of a caption for the girl that said:
Let's see, my house is over the berm and if I elevate just so...

Spare me your pity party. The people who criticized your stupid idea are not like Hitler or Al-Qaeda or any other favorite enemy that you care to name. They are real Americans who have a proven history of fighting to make this country a better place. They are the ones fighting against the tyranny of the Hitlers and the terrorists. You're just a guy with a stupid idea who doesn't know how to handle criticism. I hoped that you would grow up and recognize your mistakes. Sadly, I was wrong. Your little persecution fit only reinforces my previous conclusion that you have neither the tact nor the maturity to handle potential customers.
Your product will not make anyone safer. It will make the anti-gun crowd happy because it will make guns less useful. I strongly suspect that appeasing them and making a little money from fools are your only goals.
Enough is enough.

Oh, and before you feel the need to explain the elevation because of my caption, I think I can see that she's in recoil by her glasses.

How's about we train our kids to safely handle firearms,
and not bother with disabling the weapons? Knowledge is power.
Sorry, SBI, but there is no way I am going to buy or have
in my home a device designed to jam up a gun.
To: SafetyBullet-Inventor
Good but not good enough. Unload the guns and store the ammo in a seperate place better yet lock it up. I can send you a thousand stories of kids that found a gun and killed somebody with it. Kids are curious and guns are a magnet to them. My dad managed to raise four sons, who had friends, with guns and ammo in the house, unlocked.
Not one negligent discharge, let alone a death. Of course, back then people took the time to train their kids.
I'm sure you mean well, but I will not be buying this device. The last thing I need is something that can lock up my gat at the wrong moment.

Does this mean that you don't like my idea of eliminating the first round in a magazine in order to eliminate first round AD's?

I was writing about your thumb! LOL. Darn guy, lighten up. I was going to write that the girl can show you how to hold a Glock without getting hurt but I thought that was mean. I taught her to shoot the Glock safely, with no "Glock thumb". Not the other way around. The bandaged arm in the picture was mine. Dix has fired the weapon many times and has just taken delivery of one of his own. He forgot and paid the price.
I neglected to inform COB1 about "Glock thumb". I forgot and COB1 paid the price. We are not into pain or tragedy. We are into a fun, productive and safe time at the range.
Stay safe; stay armed.

I don't own a hand gun because of all the screwey laws. You live in Florida, so you are either a felon or a liar. I'm leaning twoard the latter, but not excluding the former.
There are no "screwey laws" that would prevent you from owning a handgun, except felon ownership prohibitions.
The idea of inserting a device that would disable a loaded gun is absurd and foolish. Pushing it as a solution for unsafe handling only compounds the problem.
