He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum.
The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet.
If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell is removed with a special tool.
The News Herald reports Mr Worley has applied for a patent for his invention.
He says several companies are interested in his design, and one has started making a prototype.
Mr Worley, from Panama City, says he supports the use of guns and understands why people need a loaded gun as protection.
He said: "I think the safety bullet is a step in the right direction. I don't want fame and fortune. This is a simple device that takes safety to the next level."

Yes, I had a brand new M1 Garand blow up in my hands. You will notice that no one else, including my daughter, pictured above, was close enough to be injured. I was wearing safety gear and was not injured that badly.
The incident occurred at a gun range with the safety on, the M1 pointed down range and after receiving training on that particular weapon. I did nothing unsafe and to imply that I did is unfair and inaccurate.

Your product will not make anyone safer. It will make the anti-gun crowd happy because it will make guns less useful. I strongly suspect that appeasing them and making a little money from fools are your only goals.

My dad managed to raise four sons, who had friends, with guns and ammo in the house, unlocked.
Not one negligent discharge, let alone a death. Of course, back then people took the time to train their kids.
I'm sure you mean well, but I will not be buying this device. The last thing I need is something that can lock up my gat at the wrong moment.

I taught her to shoot the Glock safely, with no "Glock thumb". Not the other way around. The bandaged arm in the picture was mine. Dix has fired the weapon many times and has just taken delivery of one of his own. He forgot and paid the price.
I neglected to inform COB1 about "Glock thumb". I forgot and COB1 paid the price. We are not into pain or tragedy. We are into a fun, productive and safe time at the range.

You live in Florida, so you are either a felon or a liar. I'm leaning twoard the latter, but not excluding the former.
There are no "screwey laws" that would prevent you from owning a handgun, except felon ownership prohibitions.
The idea of inserting a device that would disable a loaded gun is absurd and foolish. Pushing it as a solution for unsafe handling only compounds the problem.
