'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings
A Florida man claims to have designed a safety bullet which locks up a gun when it's accidentally fired.
Mike Worley says his simple invention takes gun safety to another level.
He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum.
The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet.
If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell is removed with a special tool.
The News Herald reports Mr Worley has applied for a patent for his invention.
He says several companies are interested in his design, and one has started making a prototype.
Mr Worley, from Panama City, says he supports the use of guns and understands why people need a loaded gun as protection.
He said: "I think the safety bullet is a step in the right direction. I don't want fame and fortune. This is a simple device that takes safety to the next level."

Regardless of what others may had said, No excuse. He's been called a moron, stupid and a host of insults. It's up to the moderators to judge if he can continue to post. The only true judge of a product is the buying public.
I believe his only mistake is presenting his firearms product on a political site and not a firearms site where it can be fairly evaluated.

I think Jim just opened a can of "TROLL BE GONE". Gee, I guess I'm late to the party (but it was entertaining ).
One has to wonder if a better name isn't in order -- something like the "suicide bullet" perhaps?
To: Flyer
LOL! And the "right to bare" was the predecessing terminology that inspired the Tshirt industry!

Sir, I hate to disillusion you, but obviously, not all here are going to turn handsprings over your invention. That doesn't rate insults or name-calling to them, or anger (perhaps frustration). It's simply the natural skepticism these Freepers have when someone suddenly comes up with a miracle solution to a huge problem. Are we to understand that maybe you're selflessly donating this paragon of safety to the people at large (only in the interest of saving lives and limbs), or are you really looking to make a few big bucks out of it? Will it be produced in every caliber and chambering ever made; and how about those who have (shhhh!) automatic or assault weapons? Does it come in belt loads or drum magazines, etc.? And what about shotguns and muzzleloaders? Inquiring shooters want to know. By the way, you wouldn't be connected in any way to Joycelyn Elders, would you?

That doesn't rate insults or name-calling to them,Perhaps you can show me where the inventor insulted anyone and I can show you where he was called a moron, stupid and a carpetbagger.

Try this website:
http://talk.shooters.com/
They have a couple of forums where you can write to gunowners without insults. They also have a manufacturers area where products are listed. Good Luck!

Knock off the personal attacks.

Perhaps I was in error (posts 36, 47, 49), due to the somewhat confusing spelling, or lack thereof. My question about Dr. Elders (which has not been answered) was not entirely in jest; after all, she was the first to publicly say, "what we need are safer bullets." Seriously, though, if this guy has a good thing, he should test-market it. Maybe on E-bay. Y' never know, it might be a gold mine, but my gut feeling is: it probably won't sell.

Can't credit these as my own and I'm feeling to lazy to do the research but,,,
Bumper sticker ideas worth repeating:
"Happiness is a belt-fed weapon"
"Keep Honking, I'm Reloading!"
"9 out of 10 voices in my head tell me I should be home cleaning my guns right now"
More to follow by other, I'm sure.

Shooter.com is a better site for him. He can discuss the pros and cons without posters insulting him. I have seen a lot of safety devices along with all the trigger locks. One more isn't going to hurt anyone. The fact that he's a gun activist helps and he isn't sitting on the sidelines like 95% of the gun owners.
I guess I can see where the guy's coming from. I spent two years trying to accurize a Mini-14 and I think I finally did it for 89 cents and a little work. Still waiting for cool weather for that one. You wouldn't believe the lack of support even among your friends.

Yes, and you put it much more succinctly than I did.

I'm wondering when some enviro-wacko, DemonRAT, socialist is going to demand that government fund the invention of "Safety Gravity." I mean, why should welfare mothers, gays women and minorities be unfairly impacted by the harsh reality that they could fall down and sustain a painful abrasion to their delicate skins?
To: Squantos; Travis McGee
I'm already here. I can't believe the Freepers dumped on the guy like this. They acted like gunshops have one kind of gun, one box of ammo and that's it.
An inventor making something on his own and using capitalism is about as American as a person can get.
To: Redcloak; SafetyBullet-Inventor
I agree with Redcloak 110%. Sometimes the first "hint of a problem" is breaking glass at 3AM, or a club to the head in a sound sleep. This is no time for you (or your spouse) to be pulling a gun with a "self sabotage" device inside and jamming it hopelessly.
Bad idea by a well meaning fool. Not the first, not the last.
To: WFTR
Amen Bro, 'what you said'.
To: Travis McGee
Bad idea by a well meaning fool. "You have to stand in line to give personal attacks to him. A couple of posts were already deleted. Can you tell me what's so wrong about disabling a gun that somebody left laying around where their kids can get to it and only takes a second to chamber another round without the fumbling of a trigger lock?
To: Freemeorkillme
GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, (they just make bullets go really fast).
To: Travis McGee; Shooter 2.5
Don't get me wrong .... I encourage inovation and invention. I'll wait to pass judgement on this guys "product" after I see it and understand it better. I won't use it . Regardless if it's the best thing since the crust on white bread.
This guy seems to have well meaning intentions but his ability to sell his ideas seems to be lacking as it has been presented here at FR.
Stay Safe !
