A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

"ONE OF FR'S FINEST"
Doug from Upland
(dfu)
"Where the heck is Upland, anyway?"
>
Upland is located in Southern California in San Bernardino County.
"OUR NEXT CALLER IS......Doug from Upland......Go ahead, Doug, you're on the air. What's on your mind today?"
If you are a fan of talk radio, you may have heard those very words because they have been spoken many times. And the caller has plenty on his mind because he could very well be our own Doug from Upland at the end of the line. In the last decade, he has probably made about 2,000 calls to talk radio shows and has been a guest on some of them. Like most FReepers, he is a grassroots conservative. He loves to challenge the left wing press and "get in the faces of left wing nitwits". He has been described as "The Bard of Upland" and a "Clintonologist" by a Los Angeles talk show host.
Doug from Upland's media appearances have not been limited to radio. He was on the podium at the Post-Inaugural Victory Brunch held to celebrate the election of President George W. Bush and to honor Jim Robinson on Sunday, February 11, 2001. It was taped and broadcast on C-Span on March 23, 2001. Here dfu is shown passing out his infamous KneePad Awards. Some of the "winners" were Dan Rather, Alan Dershowitz and Peter Jennings.
Doug from Upland has combined his love and knowledge of music with his political acumen and sense of humor to create music parodies. His dfu song parodies can be found by doing a Search and requesting Song Parody. There are way too many to link here but I did select a couple of recent ones that you might enjoy.
Tipper Goes Nuts
Martha Stewart in Stripes
And finally, we come to the Freeper Anthem. Shown above are dfu and Counter, Counter, Culture at the Victory dinner leading everyone in the FREEPER ANTHEM which Doug from Upland wrote. Do check it out. In fact, we should all rise now and sing the Freeper anthem along with dfu and ccc.
IN HIS OWN WORDS:
FAVORITE FREEP - "I did a FReep before I knew what a FReep was. It took place in Feb. 1998 just after Drudge broke the Willey and Monica stories. I flew to DC for the weekend and paraded in front of the White House with a poster-sized eviction notice. Unfortunately, the Secret Service would not let me serve it on the scumbags."
Doug from Upland has been a Freeper since 12-04-97 and has been One of FR's Finest from the very beginning. Enjoy your Day in the Spotlight, Doug from Upland, and Thank You.

I can see why you would love it. Yours wins. :)There are NO winners/losers in Louie's world of women. : )
Want me to re-do yours? : )
To: daisyscarlett
What caused your tomato black rot? Someone told me that it was a calcium deficiency in the soil and that I need to spray them once a week. I'd rather just go to the fruit stand and buy them as to do that!

re: "love to see your rose"
===================================
Be careful what you wish for.
MIDI - THE ROSE
There's a thing that's really awful
that has our children scared
It has been seen while they are dreaming
and none of them is spared
It has been shown on television
they've read in rhyme and prose
And if you ask why they are frightened
they'll say "It's Clinton's nose"
No Stephen King or Alfred Hitchcock
could ever do such a scene
That little kids should live in terror
is really so very mean
Some may accept things that have happened
and say that's how it goes
And if you ask why they are frightened
they'll say it's, "Clinton's nose"
Sometimes it's red and very bulbous
and sometimes, it is olive-grey
They're all aware that it is evil
they have cried out "please go away"
Such paranoia's running rampant
when will that thing decompose
And if you ask why they are frightened
they will say, "It's Clinton's nose"

To: Diver Dave; doug from upland; Billie
Thanks Dave for bringing up Josh. It is always especially nice when FR Finest has ties to the military. And a son-in-law on active duty in the Navy on the USS Enterprise definitely qualifies. I am wondering if Billie has a photo of Josh to add to her collage? If I missed him, tell me where he is - I wanna see if he is as handsome as his fil...lol...If not, dfu please send a photo of Josh to Billie...
Diver, this is for you....
To: Mama_Bear
Hey....who put my sig on there?I did, because you should have and you didn't. :-)
Why? As long as YOU know where it came from. : )
To: Billie
Hi Billie! I saw your report last night about your mini vacation. About your eating canoeing, sleeping etc...I'm so glad that you got to enjoy yourself. Have you posted that flag picture yet?
To: ST.LOUIE1
Why? As long as YOU know where it came from. : ) Do you want me to take it off? I think that you should have credit for what you do, but I will take it off if you would prefer. :-)
To: Aquamarine
The only other Jeffords song that I remember was
OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING Here is one of my Kennedy favorites:
MIDI - YELLOW RIVER
Poor, poor Ted
we just heard the news
Could it be that hes had too much booze
He holds a seat that the RATS may lose
Teddys liver
Hey Jane Swift, dear, are you all set
You will soon get your chance, we bet
Poor Tom Daschle
his pants are all wet
Teddys liver
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
his doc says it is pretty bad
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
the vast right wing is feeling sad
If only there could be a way to hear from Mary Jo
Were sure she would say its a tragic way to go
Poor, poor Teddys liver
When hes gone, it will seem so odd
No waitress sandwich with his pal, Dodd
So raise your glass and lets give him a nod
Teddys liver
When the time comes to say goodbye
We will not see one dry eye
Like Ron Brown, will Scumbag laugh and then cry
Teddys liver
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
his doc says its pretty bad
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
the vast right wing is feeling sad
If only there could be a way to hear from Mary Jo
Were sure she would say that its a tragic way to go
Poor, poor Teddys liver
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
his doc says its pretty bad
Teddys liver, Teddys liver
the right wing is feeling sad

Yes, I sure was! That was so nice of you to go out and find that .wav for me, Aqua.It was no trouble. The new wav site that I'm using had a Request button so I pushed it and made the request then the owner sent me an e-mail to inform me that it was now available at her web-site. When I went to retreive it there it was with my name beside it , it said (Requested by Susie)...whoever that is! LOL!
Thanks for the hug! :)

Good afternoon all.
I'm just now getting on FR. We weren't here all day Sunday. We went to church and then went to the lake to get the 2 grandsons baptized. WOO HOO!
Doug from Upland! Hey Dougie, how are ya? I really do enjoy Doug's post and all the work he does on Free Republic. Thanks Doug.
One day, while I was still living in New Jeresy, I was listening to Sean Hannity's radio program, way before he went national. And what do I hear? "Hello, this is Doug from Upland." Yep, it was our very own Doug. He was also instrumental in getting out the Fireman's Irish song. Remember that? Good job, Doug. I'm glad you're a Freeper.

Why doesn't any of mine have sigs? If they did I wouldn't need to publicly thank you for each and every one. LOL
Thank you, Louie!

Greetings from the right coast, Billie......fantastic Finest Freeper choice for today!
I had the great pleasure of meeting and singing with DFU during a post election rally in November 2001 in Westwood, CA!
The song was to the music of 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic' and the words told Al Gore that it was time for him to concede that he'd lost the election. Doug passed out the parody he'd written and led everyone in the song. It was one of the great moments of that particular FREEP!
Congratulations, Doug.....Enjoy your much deserved day in the spotlight!
To: Teacup
Hi teacup. Thanks for telling that story about you catching Doug on Sean Hannity. And have a great day....
To: Mama_Bear
Do you want me to take it off? Yes!!!!!
I think that you should have credit for what you do,
Phooey! You're talking about the 'sig'. : (
Leave it on if it pleases you. : )
To: JulieRNR21
Hi Julie. How are ya? OOO WEE! it's hot and humid out here today. A good day to stay in doors. Today is grandson #3's birthday. He has requested Tacos for dinner and an ice cream cake. We just got back from the store. I'm not going back out there again today, LOL.
Hubby is taking a much needed vacation this week. He and grandson #2 stayed home and started working on a train layout. Oh boy!

And
I like thanking you for them! I not only have an attitude, I am also tenacious. See prior morning posts for confirmation.

On second thought, I prefer not to have your sig on the image. It is more fun to thank you with that big sloppy kiss. That kiss gets lots or response, no feedback, but response just the same.
