A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

ONE OF FR'S FINEST
Teacup "Caption this Photo" If you see this, either as a comment or a new thread post, chances are good that Teacup is the author. And chances are also good that you are viewing a photo of one of the Clintons. Like most FReepers, Teacup does not have a high regard for the former First Family. Her outrage at Pardongate helped lead to the founding of The Ladies Investigative Guild of FR. (now known as The Guild). A charter member of the Guild, she continues to post there frequently. She also posts at and visits various other threads.
Teacup has been a FReeper since 11-04-98. Among her FReeps are Sore Loserman rallies and FReeping the Creep at the White House. While she is almost always cheerful and fun, don't let this or her screen name fool you. She is not as delicate and fragile as, well, a teacup.
She is a proud American of Hispanic descent, raised in the barrios of Southern California. Despite the fact that both her father and uncle (WWII veterans) were Eisenhower Republicans, she began her college years as a self-described "hippie and Liberal". At age 19, she became a single Mom. In her own words: "It's amazing how quickly you grow up and become conservative when you are all alone and have a baby to raise." In 1980 she became a born again Christian and credits the Lord with changing her life.
She is proud that she raised her daughter with no help, Government or otherwise (other than Medical Aid and that was only for a short while). She worked during the day, went to school in the evenings and eventually obtained both an AA Degree and a BS Degree.
She was employed as a Licensed Social Worker for many years. Her accomplishments in the field of mental health and substance abuse counseling are vast and include writing substance abuse programs for many California schools (she was trained at Betty Ford Center) and helping start one of the first Rape Counseling Centers in Southern California.
She has lived in California, Texas, NJ and Virginia and has a wealth of lifetime experiences.
Don't even think about making a racial slur or stereotypical remark when she is around and if you are foolish enough to engage in a flame war with her, well God love ya.
Remember the television sit-com called "Major Dad' with Gerald McRanney? The premise of the show was that a single Marine Corps Officer married a lady with three children so he became an immediate Dad and used Marine Corps methods to keep the household in line.
Well, Mr. Teacup is a real-life Major Dad. Except he is a retired Marine Corps Lt.Colonel. He and Teacup have been married for 13 years and, while he did not share in the raising of Teacup's daughter (Freeper mini-teacup), he thinks of her as his daughter and her four children as his grandchildren. Three of these four grandchildren have been making their home with the Teacups for the last several weeks due to an acute family crisis. So their household is a "Colonel GrandDad" type home these days.
For an example, last weekend Teacup related how he got them all up early on a Saturday morning and the whole family went on a three mile hike. Does that sound like a script right outta Major Dad or what? Especially when the kids came home and took a long nap after devouring a mess of chocolate-chip pancakes prepared by Grandma.
Teacup not only opens her heart to fellow FRiends, she also opens her home to them. Pictured above at an April cookout in Teacup's bucolic home in the Virginia countryside: Teacup in center with Mr. and Mrs. G'nad on left and Mrs. and Mr. Mudpuppy on right.
TEACUP, TEACUP, TEACUP WE LUV YA, LUV YA, LUV YA and YOU ARE ONE OF FR'S FINEST

daisyscarlett, so you want to know how I got my screen name? Oh no!
Well, back in 1998 I knew nothing, zip, zero, about computers. Mr. T, spoken like a true Marine, got me a computer, put it in front of me and said, "HERE! Learn."
I knew one thing. I knew I wanted to see that web site called "Free Republic." So I called MiniT and asked her to guide thur the inter net. I lurked for months, too shy to post. And then we left for Oklahoma to visit the in-laws (LOL). While there, my mother-in-law (Bless her heart) told me to please return the antique TEACUPS my hubby has inherited from his grandmother.
Well, needless to say I was really hurt and quit angry. When we got back to Camp Pendelton, I packed up the TEACUPS and told hubby I did not want them in my home. I forgot they were not mine nor were they his mothers, to give away or keep, HA! HA! HA! HA! So the darn things stayed right where they were. On an antique table next to my computer.
I cooled off and went to see what was happeneing on Free Republic. I decided to register that night. They asked for a screen name. "What's a screen name, I thought. So I yelled over to hubby in the other room, "Hey! What's a screen name?" He says, "A name you want to be known as. I don't know what they want, but look around and see if you can find a name you want to be called." Fustrated from the long trip and my mother-in-law, LOL, I saw those pretty little TEACUPS staring back at me. Guess what?? I typed in TEACUP.
After I registered I noticed the screen names back then were like, "Clinton's a liar" "Hail to the Cheat" and others. I said to myself, "Oh what a stupid screen name i have." HA! HA! HA! HA! Well, I decided to keep it and four years later, here I am. That's how I got my screen name.

Yesterday I could not see your pledge today I can't see the one in post #137.
Yesterday I tried Internet Explorer but that didn't help.Hey I thought you had all the answers! LOL
I wish! : )
I really don't know why you can't view the graphics.
To: Diver Dave
Thank you Diver Dave. I truly enjoy your posts.
Thank you for serving this great country through your efforts at FR and your many other activities
One of my greatest accomplishments has been being a Marine wife. No we don't get medals or ribbons or any thing like that. But i like to think we military wives serve our country too. No we're not out in the field, putting our lives in danger, but we're home, rasing our families and keeping our homes ready for our hubby's return. No sooner are we all, happy and used to our little home, when it's time to move again.
I have enjoyed my 13 years as a Marine wife. Would i do it agin? In a heart beat. God Bless America!

You've got that right, dear lady. Every military wife/husband is a HERO in my book. Mrs. DD suffered right along with other wives during our three six month deployments.
SALUTE to Military Wives!
To: daisyscarlett
I second that notion. I have "slacked" myself. I try, but cannot answer all. Do read the posts whether or not I reply. Ikeep my sanity that way too. Being active duty, ya all know we are 24/7, plus the homelife, extracurricular activities with kids, and now my hubby gone til the end of Aug. Fixing ships in Norfolk/Little Creek. Having uty and 2 cell phones ringing as they have today at least 3 times does not help.
I truly appreciate all's support and love ya all to death.

Are you still enjoying the collection and have you added to it?...Yes we still have them and yes I have added to my collection. No I would never change my screen name. I have been made fun of, by some who do not care for Free Republic on other web sites. They think my screen name is like Buffy, of Muffin, LOL. Little do they know, it has nothing to do with being cute, HA! HA!
Others have freep mailed me after they read, how I got my screen name, and laugh and laugh, because some have thought I was this southern lady drinking tea and attending Tea socials. Nope, sorry, not me. So I'll leave my screen name just the way it is.
