President Bush and First Lady Laura returned to Washington after a weekend at Camp David. In his weekend radio address, Bush urged Congress to act on several pieces of legislation before their August recess. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
(Thanks for telling me.......I would have been worried, thinking you had been banned........and that I would be next! :o)
Well...maybe someone could loosen a chair leg...?
One very important characteristic that you've obviously missed about President Bush, is that he does nothing because of people's "perception" of him, so he's not going to stay in DC because of what he fears people might think of him, or fears losing a point or two in the polls (which IMO, is not going to happen).
I've read through your comments on O'Neil and his competency, and though I don't understand the details of what's going on (I'm a music teacher!), I do know that one of President Bush's other strengths is his ability to choose brilliant people to work with, and his ability to manage well. I choose to trust his MBA management skills, and prefer for him to have people around him whom he trusts, rather than people who have a better image in your eyes.
LOL...I need to go find a picture of a Helen Lookalike in a lawn chair. I wonder if she wears knee Hi stockings...rolled just a bit. haha
Good morning, hsm and whoever else is still on the thread from out here on the Left Coast. What a picture I have of Helen with her knee hi's rolled down. I had an Aunt who used to do that. Also, how about rollers and a hairnet, along with a faded muu-muu.
I don't understand why they can't get rid of the old bag. Didn't the Sink Emperor kick Brit Hume out of the White House Press Corps back in '93 when Brit asked him if he was "zig-zagging" regarding the Attorney General job (remember the Zoe Baird-Kimba Wood fiasco)? Fox News just played that clip a couple of weeks ago.
Dittos, Kath. I wish they'd start calling the Crawford ranch the "Western White House", the way they used to with President Reagan's ranch.
Well, I know ONE Fox guy who most likely won't complain. Do you remember last year Wendell Goler was there with his Harley? Brit Hume featured him on his show, giving a tour of Crawford. I don't think Jim Angle will complain, either; he's just a good-natured guy. The weenies from NBC, SeeBs, CNN, etc., I'm sure will be whining the whole time they're there
LOL .. Yep I remember .. Wendell looked like he was having the time of his life
And if I recall he rec'd a bunch of great emails also
What did she say that she then said she had been teasing about?
nullsumme - I think we are in the midst of a major avalanche - major tumbling markets and economies. Your criticisms of Paul O'Neil for not keeping life sweet for the currency arbitrageurs seem to me to be too narrowly focused. As if in a major avalanche in the Alps, one were criticizing one of the Park Rangers for not pushing back a little of the snow with his hand consistently enough, and maybe even not spinning a sufficiently believable story that the snow really isn't burying us.
I just hope this avalanche doesn't bury the Republicans this November, or Bush in 2004.
I took your comment and turned it into a little joke.
"The reason the press doesn't like Dubya is because nothing Hamptons in August."
My local Democratic shill news organization, NBC affiliate for evening news, played a short tape of Bush recently in which he swore. He had tried two or three times (this part was glossed over) to give by phone a message of support to some group meeting to raise money for cancer research or something, and every time, he went through his whole schpiel and then was told that the audience had not heard it, and he not only was hot, he cussed. I could hardly believe my ears and eyes that the local news played it. I mean, here is the president doing a charity call-in to raise money to fight disease, and how many times was he supposed to have to say it? I don't condone the cussin', but I do understand his dismay with the broken-down and time-wasting process when he is such a busy man.
;-)
He used the mansions and estates of others to vacation in at various times of the year, which meant an enormous amount of work for the Secret Service to secure the site ahead of time.
Remember the little marriage-saving seclusion retreat he, hillary, and chelsea "used" after the Monica situation? He did that a lot.
