Didn't Clinton, when under scrutiny in the impeachment saga claim some obscure rule of the sea dating back to English Common law, that as 'captain of the ship' he was exempt from scrutiny until his term of office expired?

Further proof that he was a weasel, if any still be needed...

If last week was any indication, Bush officials have chosen a dangerous path of personal devotion over public duty, a path that has led previous administrations to disaster.

Oh please. Can anyone say MEDIA BIAS????

Thanks for posting but it could have used a BARF alert IMHO. Sometimes I can't stomach what the other side is saying, even if I probably ought to be somewhat aware.

It's truly amazing what amounts to a scandle these days. I'll bet Woodward and Bernstein agree that "this" is a scandle as compared to what Clinton was involved in. What a trainload of transparent bull s--t.

Among the unproven allegations are insider trading, questionable personal loans and fraudulent dealings.

You can read "unproven" here as being a whispering campagin. I have seen NO charges concerning either one of these guys, have you?

The White House staff has put on a full-court press to refute these allegations of private misconduct.

And what, pray tell, are they suppose to do, sit back and let the press, the Democrats, and apparently people in our own party run wild with speculation and unproven, not even credible charges?

Dick Gephardt thanks you for the work you're doing for the DNC. You and Larry Klayman are doing a bang up job of spreading rumors and false allegations -- talk about the politics of personal destruction.

I still like Turley, he makes a valid point, but just as an unneccessary IMO warning: just that public WH staff shouldn't be involved in the response to questions about the personal allegations.
I think he's going a little far in the way he thinks this rule should be applied (gagging Fleischer for example!).

Clinton administration public officials did much more.

"press secretary Ari Fleischer and others defended the President's actions as a citizen and stated that the White House was consulting with "private accountants and private counsels" as part of its response. The White House staff coordinated the response to the allegations, even sending allies fax answer sheets (À la Clinton) titled "If You Get Asked About Harken." "

"consulting with "private accountants and private counsels" " boy, this would never have occured to either of the Clintons.

This piece is nothing more then to get the authors name 'out there'.

"This may have happened, bu t I don't know. It's possible, but it's undetermined. Everythign may prove false."

This is not an article, this is a vanity in the Philly Enquirer. It's bullshit. Period.

The first sentence of this article compares Halliburton and Harken to Enron and Worldcom. I didn't need to read any further.

The White House is reeling from allegations that both President Bush and Vice President Cheney engaged in business practices that are disturbingly similar to those of executives at Enron and WorldCom

This is an outrigt lie and Jonathan Turley should be ashamed of himself.

Why would the White House be reeling?
How can a house reel?
Give me a break.
The only reeling being done is the duped journalists salivating and hooked on DNC pipe dream faxes.

This article is just too funny, Clinton serving the greater good, LOL!!! when in his view, he was the greatest good even when he was being bad. Afterall, "everybody does it, move on, it's his personal life" and he has to get back to doing the work the American people hired him to do even if it included frolicking upzipped in the people's oval office.

Gee, what do I know. Not much. Heck, whatever common stock Cheney or Bush had prior to serving the greater good is really just their private life, and why can't we all just move on? Groovey baby, whatever!

In all fairness to Turley, he was relentlessly critical of the Face Biting Rapist when the latter was playing Hide the Cigar and sending his lackeys out to lie for him.

The difference now is, Turley (a minor media pundit during the ThongGate days) will suddenly be elevated to Major Pundit because he's criticizing President Bush.
