I wonder what nationality they were. Some people believe the more pain the animal suffers, the "tastier" the meat will be..

From Dog meat hot among Korea and China's trendy young

Dogs are usually strung up by their necks and beaten repeatedly to increase the flow of adrenaline in their flesh. Consumers believe the more pain the animals suffer, the more tender the meat becomes.

The dogs would struggle, howl, urinate and bleed till they become unconscious. Finally, they are chopped into pieces. All these are done in front of other dogs awaiting the same fate.

Ya know, sometimes extreme pro-lifers can be extremely counterproductive.

At least Askel doesn't post things in ALL CAPS WITH LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree DES... the issues are not related, and attempts to link abortion to overt animal cruelty threads crosses the line to silly.

After all, it might as well be a 2A issue, eh Laz? After all, if our hero had a gun, she could have shot the b&st&rd and probably saved us a lot of grief from our kitty griller's future work.

I most definitely think the freepers "I'd like to give this guy a taste of his own medicine" over reaction is somewhat comical.

That is what I thought was somewhat amusing.

Why? As men, we have the protective instinct for those who can not defend themselves. The torture of a defensless sentient animal brings that up in us. We feel that someone who would do this is a flawed member of our species.

The people who did this were picking on something that had no defense against them, and that is contemptible.

I think people are also upset because it is another sign of needless cruelty in our society. People who do things like this do not restrict their actions to animals - read about what the thugs in the "Witchita Horror" did.

I knew someone like this in high school - he got a kick out of abusing animals. He moved on to beating up people and being an enforcer for a drug gang. Today after a jail stint he has (supposedly) found God and is walking the straight and narrow. I hope it is genuine. He was always nice to me, but I could always see the thinly vieled cruelty and rage in the guy. I tried to help him, and did what I could.

Extremely sick bastard. I know what it's like to cause the death of a kitten inadvertantly, and how much it hurt me. It infuriates me to think that someone would do something that evil for kicks. They have no respect for any life.

You are certainly a snobbish, arrogant SOB, aren't you?

If you can't understand a little emotion over a defenseless animal, I certainly hope you don't have any animals.

Or kids, for that matter.

They can't remember the event five minutes later

Then why will animals that have been tortured will years later still react to persons who look/smell like those who did the torturing?

Accidently running over an animal is very different from torturing one for pleasure. Some of the kids in my wife's class got into driving at night and running over as many dogs & cats as possible. I told them if anything happened to any of my animals, I'd be coming after them.

I don't believe in animal rights, and I do believe in hunting, and harvesting farm animals. But torturing or killing an animal for pleasure is indefensable. Anyone who has worked around animals know they do suffer when injured.

I suspect someone recently poisoned my kids' cat. That person better pray I never find out who did it.

Hi there - you know, in this case, let's let "the animals have or have no souls" issues stay asleep.

The fact of the matter is, an animal like a kitten feels the pain of being burned to death, for no apparent reason beyond cruelty.

This person is evil and is likely to commit horrendous crimes against other beings, including those who are human. I say give maximum punishment for him and anyone who watched while this happened and did nothing - they clearly have little respect for the sanctity of life.

I've seen better treatment done to snakes in Asia where some eat them. They would at least cover their heads first before slitting and gutting them. Dogs are much smarter and I have a feeling they know what's going on around them.

I've got to agree with others. When you talk about being on a farm and putting kittens in a bag, etc, you are talking about farm folk back when putting animals down the only way they knew how. They didn't do it for the fun of torturing animals, but to keep the animal populations down on the farm(I'm assuming this is prior to when you could get animals fixed too).

I see a big difference between our predecessors who routinely put animals down or killed them prior to preparing them for dinner and the sick people in this incident who tortured a living thing for thier own sick delight. I dare say this is not the sort of dominion God intended over animals.

You are a sick puppy, too...about as bad as RobRoy. What makes you think that people who detest people who enjoy torturing anything and/or anyone (actually, around here, we just pound them when we catch them, because sadists generally hate pain) are PETA activists or are somehow "for" abortion?

I prefer my rabbit killed quickly and cleanly before it's grilled. No pain for the rabbit. Food for me.

However, this isn't a hunting OR an abortion issue : it about this guy's sadistic act, and the group of co-sadists who enjoyed watching it, rather than stop it.

Both of you should seek professional help.

I never claimed to be a tough guy or macho - I do feel a little macho that I did the STP in one day this year though. 8^>.

I believe I am merely trying to say that animals and humans have far different values.

To put your scripture in context:

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. -- Mattew 10:29-31

This scripture is not talking about the worth of sparrows. It is talking about the worth of a man!

Your emotions are blinding you to the actual meaning of the words and sentences I use.

I see this man as a sinner, as we all are. I believe most on this thread may be guilty of looking for the speck in their brothers eye while ignoring the plank in their own.

BTW, what's my profile got to do with it?

History shows that people who do things like this to animals are very likely to do similar things to people later on. This guy and all the worthless, literally sick SOBs who were standing around and thought is was so funny should receive counselling and should be put on some kind of probation so they can be monitored.

Agree, cake, and I am as pro-life as they come. This story just sickens me. Any bets out there that this isn't Mr. Benoit's first run-in with the law? It wouldn't surprise me if this has happened with him before, and given how many serial killers got their start torturing animals, I'd say he needs some sort of intervention; jail or counseling or both, I don't know. This is just wanton cruelty to an animal, and it's indefensible.

I fail to understand why the senseless murder of the unborn -- deaths whose brutality boggles the mind -- doesn't work us up any longer the same way the senseless torture of some dumb animal does.

It is because we have become desensitized to it. That is why the pro abort groups get so upset whenever a picture of an aborted fetus is used during debates. Plus, the media is more than willing to pump up the (well deserved, IMO) outrage on aminal cruelty when they do not on abortion.

I do agree with Bush in that we need to change people's minds on abortion. We (as a society) treat it as akin to removing a wart or an ingrown toenail.

"I would a lobster but I wouldn't to a Kitten or chicken or cow - but I wouldn't presume to be able to tell you not to - to your own animal, of course"

Why are you saying you would not do a thing that you sais it was OK for the sadistic creep to do? Because it's wrong? As to my dog, even with a gun, you'd have to be darned quick if you wanted to live to get off even one shot. He has a mind of his own...if feels I, my husband or children are threatened...he'll just come outta nowhere and jump right on 'em. He won't KILL them...unless I tell Hubby or I tell him to. Unlike the dogs owned by those people out on the left-coast. Those owners, apparently, think like you. Animals have minds. That's why they need to be trained.
