A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson
Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson
This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:
- Not conservative enough
- Not pro-life
- Is a gun-grabber
- Is a federal power-grabber
- Will appoint liberal judges
- Is a globalist
- Is in it just for oil
- Is too soft on immigration
- Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
- Is a crook
- All of the above
- None of the above
- Other (you name it)
Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.
Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.
Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.
Thanks,
Jim

Maam, it gets old...it is nothing but a cynical attempt to marginalize pro-lifers...recognize it for what it is, please.

I agree with the majority of your statement, with one exception. I have rescinded my membership from the Republican National Committee. I will not donate money to an organization that may use it to aid the campaigns of McCain, Specter, Snowe, Chafee, all of whom are always on the democrat side of the vote. They are not Republicans and we will not have a majority in the Senate until they are replaced with real Republicans.
Instead, I personally donate to candidates from other states.

So, because Bush has pissed you off, you are going to undercut the rest of the party. I have to assume there are Republican politicians in the house or senate you do approve of. If they do not have a majority and a president that can back them, they may as well quit.
The point is, the party is not one man or one issue. Bush has done things that have pissed me off, too. But the direction the Dems would take us is far worse than what the Republicans would do. You have framed the issue as one of two bad choices. Well, sometimes that all you get. Sometimes you have to choose the lesser of "two evils", as some would put it. Choose the one that you can work with and have a hope of influencing the next time around.
I believe that the differences between the parties are much greater than some would like us to believe. Some of the things Bush has done that have pissed me off I have to concede because of the politcal situation in the Senate. On most issues I am in full accordance with most of the party. I differ significantly on a few others.
I would love nothing better than to vote for a party and politicians that agreed with everything I believe in. They do that in Europe. It results in splintered government where socialism usually wins out because of the neccessity to form coalitions (coalition is a polite term for "cluster f**k"). Is that what you want here? I don't.
Sometimes reality sucks. But you still have to deal with it - especially if you want to call yourself a conservative. Those that cannot handle reality generally vote Democrat. IMHO.

I know how much the military hated Clinton. The best thing that could happen to this country politically is a military coup as the officier corp is nearly all Republicans and we'd most likely end up with someone like Pinochet( a great man despite the leftist propaganda). I wonder if Gore got elected would the military accept it?

Instead, I personally donate to candidates from other states. I have done the same for quite awhile, and counseled others to do it as well ever since a certain party official bragged in 2000 about having more money than God.
Since tons of the loot this year has gone to promote RINOs in the primaries, I consider my decision to have been the right one.
There are scores of great conservative Republican candidates that need our financial support all over the country.

You are incapable of ever being satisfied, by George W. Bush, or any other person who will ever be President.
Perhaps you should consider worshiping Someone other than yourself.

"Instead, I personally donate to candidates from other states."
I have no problem with that. In fact we are not in disagreement at all. If you lived in Arizona, for example, I would expect you to vote for an alternative Republican to replace McCain in the primary.
But, failing that, I would still vote for McCain. I dislike him and the others you mentioned as well. They vote where they think the majority is going for purposes of getting the vote. When they see clear evidence of a much more conservative shift, and they see that their own party is put in clear power because of it, they will get more conservative and they will back the party (for the most part). If, on the other hand, you voted for a dem, or facilitated one's election with a throw-away 3d party vote, you have taken away from your party's overall ability to effect change.
I fully support your decision not to send money to the RNC. If you feel that they will spend it those whose views you do not support. Send to those that do. That is what I meant about working to steer the party in the direction you want it to go.

Democracy always leads to socialism( im sure you have read the Alexander Tyler quote ) for capitalism and freedom to live Democracy must die. It used to be only male property owners could vote but later in our history the franchise was extended to the mob and finally and disastourously to women. As long as people on the dole can vote we will slide further into socialism.

boy oh boy we have a loose one here tonight. You don't believe one word that you wrote, right?
To: EternalVigilance
it is nothing but a cynical attempt to marginalize pro-lifers...recognize it for what it is, please. EV, I don't mean this as an insult, and hope you won't take it as such, but if you choose to focus on just one issue (no matter how moral it is) haven't you in effect marginalized yourself? Sort of like focusing on one tree and missing the forest?
To: TLBSHOW
I believe a military coup would be good Im not sure it would happen.
To: EternalVigilance
I agree wholeheartedly!

I am a Republican. I do not like all of the party platforms. But I like them a lot better than what the Dems offer. So I vote Republican. I vote a straight party ticket. A Republican President without a Republican house and senate to back him (and vice-versa), will not take the country anywhere near where I want it to go.That whole post was very well said and I agree.
To: weikel
believe a military coup would be good Im not sure it would happen. Do yourself a favor. Do a google search on "sedition".

If we repeat the mistake we made in 1992 by voting in protest, we will hand the keys to the city right back to the liberals
You've learned the wrong lesson. I voted for Bush 41 in '92, but I still blame him for losing the votes that lost the election.
George HW Bush is more responsible than anyone for his loss to Bill Clinton. No one owed him their votes.
The real lesson of '92 is not to take votes for granted. Let's hope the current President Bush has learned this lesson well.
To: PsyOp
There's a great candidate in Michigan I am supporting.
I am stuck with Feingold, Kohl and Baldwin in Wisconsin.....I feel cursed, but not without hope!
Of course I support Republican candidates running against the above as well.

"It's no healthier to believe in Bush no matter what"That's not what I said, I appreciate your civility, but you constantly twist the words of others to suit your own agenda
