A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 7-03-02

A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

"ONE OF FREE REPUBLIC'S FINEST"
How do you spell FUN? How do you spell FUNNY? How do you spell GENEROUS? How do you spell CHIVALROUS? How do you spell SENSITIVE? How do you spell PATRIOT? How do you spell CONSERVATIVE? How do you spell PROUD TEXAN?
Well, some of us spell it L-O-D-W-I-C-K
Lodwick is a mostly daytime FReeper. He spreads his charm around to many threads including, but not limited to, The Guild, The Canteen, and The Freeoples. His FReeping is often in competition with The List (things to do, often requested by Mrs. L.), with FReeping usually winning out, at least until shortly before Mrs. Lodwick returns home. His contributions to the threads include photos, food preparation tips, product information and a whole lot of caring and sharing. He is also old-fashion chivalrous, often coming to the rescue when a FReeper is rude or obnoxious to a lady and demands that said disruptor behave as a gentleman or leave.
.
He is an enthusiastic fundraiser, participating in the Quarterly Fund Raising Event (aka the Freepathon). In fact, his Profile Page includes this statement: "Becoming very upset that more folks are not pulling their weight by donating monthly to support the finest conservation website on the internet." He espouses this view often in his daily postings. Currently, he is working hard to BRING BABY BILLY HOME.
Lodwick, you are a FRiend to many of us and brighten our days. Your generous contributions to various efforts have made a difference in many lives.
We Love Ya, Bud. Enjoy your day in the spotlight.

What a great wish you extended to JL.
Jim, that's a keeper 'fur shure.' Worthy of a cut, paste, print and hang on the wall.
To: JulieRNR21
Love what you said about being here! Thanks, Julie, it's a nice feeling - exactly what we had hoped for.

What a neat report on your son. Eric sounds like a wonderful young man. And I wholeheartedly agree that we need an ongoing Eric update. Would be a great trainer for other freeper kids who are considering the military!
BTW, are you doing RED, WHITE and BOOM??? Maybe we'll bump into you. I'll be sure to wear my March for Justice Freeper TSHIRT! Surely you'll be able to spot me out of 10,000 plus folks LOL

I'll be the radio watchstander at the Coast Guard Base on the 4th
from 7:30AM-after the local fireworks are over.
I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the 4th!
To: Billie
Meetings over and I'M BAAAACK! But this time only for 15 minutes. I REALLY REALLY mean it this time.
My secretary is on vacation this week (it's just the two of us) and she left me a TO DO list (did I say I was the boss???) Haven't accomplished one of them (and unfortunately freeping was NOT on the list).
As I tremble and tremor...I am about to sign off RIGHT NOW!Well...maybe in a few more minutes....
P.S. You have freepmail

Nice to see the Guild over here giving our Lodwick his due....The Guild stories we could tell of Lodwick could go on and on...He laughs with us and cries with us and he in turn makes us laugh and cry....On a daily basis!
When we were doing Care packages for the troops on the USS Roosevelt, he was so concerned that they get everything they needed. When HLL mentioned that they could probably use some lip balm, well our guy got right on it and sent HLL over 100 tubes of Avon Lip Balm which caused HLL to quip "The next time I see a photo of the USS Roosevelt crew, they had better be wearing lip balm".
Another time, he sent HLL a check and instructed her to go out and buy some half-price Halloween candy (after 10/31) and send to the troops in the Guild Care package. He had been shopping and noticed what a tremendous buy that was (Hey just because one is GENEROUS does not mean one cannot be THRIFTY).....
Thanks for your moving tribute HLL. And yes, he did get the Guild their button and out of the cheese hole, too....

Best wishes to Lodwick, enjoy your day! GG

Daisy - please. These things were done because 1) They needed to be done, or 2) I was able to do them. Not to have my horn tooted. So to speak. ;-)
