US Constitution declared Unconstitutional

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals declares the US Constituion unconstitutional because it violated the basic Constitutional tenet of separation of church and state. Specifically, the Preamble, which most schoolchildren are required to memorize, contains the word "blessings." Blessing, of course, is the act or words of one that blesses. Bless is defined by Merriam-Websters Collegiate Dictionary as 1 : to hallow or consecrate by religious rite or word 2 : to hallow with the sign of the cross 3 : to invoke divine care for.
The text of the Constitution, therefore, impermissibly takes a position with respect to the purely religious question of the existence and identity of God," the court's three judge panel wrote.

The sad thing is this: that really wouldn't surprise me a bit. I fear that the "sleeping giant" won't wake in time to prevent what's coming down the road... what's next, our currency? The witness oath? Chaplains in the military?

I am pretty sure that this was referring to the Pledge of Alligance and not the U.S. Constitution. Either way, those judges need to be replaced.

The Age of Clinton.

I suppose the Court will also ban the Declaration of Independence and Gettysburg Address.

My posting was intended as sarcasm. I realize today's ruling was about the Pledge. Just demonstrating "slippery slope."

You should probably state that then. Your post has the potential to confuse a lot of people.

I don't think the judges should get paid until they overturn this ruling. After all, "In God We Trust" violates their ruling.

.............and Leahy sits on Bush's court appointments............

Then we should also be seriously questioning the fact that the Bush Administration has refused to investigate and prosecute the Clinton crimes. Their blatant refusal to bring the Clintons to justice shows their lack of respect for the rule of law in this country.
We have no right to sit here and complain about Clinton if we are satisfied to allow our leaders apathy in the area of treason and breached national security.

The Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary Online has the following entry for "blessing"
1.a. the act or words of one who blesses b.:APPROVAL, ENCOURAGEMENT
2: a thing conducive to happiness or welfare
3: a grace said at a meal
The context of the word within the Constitution leans toward the second definition. Let's agree on the term before we start discussing it.

"Your post has the potential to confuse a lot of people."
I think a lot of people are already confused. Primarily the people living in the People's Republik of Kalifornia and specifically the judges on the 9th circuit court of appeals.

Either way, the government should not be an adversary of religion.

You may be the only one who didn't understand what he meant.

The witness oath?" That already is there. You SWEAR or AFFIRM. You can affirm with the oath now. You don't have to swear to it.
To: rth_sr
Like I said before. You should have clarified that then when you posted this thread. You are going to have to get used to a lot of people coming to this thread and taking it seriously then.

From our constitution (Article VII, Last paragraph)
Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth In witness whereof We have hereunto subscribed our Names,
What about this reference to Jesus?

Also, today gravity was repealed in Texas, North Dakota, Upper Michigan, West Virginia and the southern half of Guam.
