Breaking now. Details shortly
Get 'em started early on the math-phys, Gramps... That's all I got to say... That's where the jobs are. Too many kids these days study worthless crap and can't get meaningful jobs and are a waste of good skin IMO. I guess I have a superiority complex when it comes to academic pursuits but that's the way I see it-- I'll take an engineer, even a bio student, over a soc or psych punk anyday... And the way I hear it, ed studies are mostly dogwaste... The hard sciences remain relatively unscathed by the massive influx of intellectual sewage that's deluged the academic industry in the past 40 years, in particular... Though you do have the harpies p!ssing and moaning now and then about underrepresentation of women/minorities/transvestites/whathaveyou...
Good luck to ya. I admire folks who can take it on, like my ma... Can't see myself ever doing it but I'll stick up for the homeschoolers any day...
Good point. Maybe we should return him.
ROTFLMAO! Like he'd know the "right thing" if it bit him on the nose.
Can you imagine everyone in the neighborhood hating your guts and wanting to kill you, yet all the doors and windows are left wide open?
Count me as a 'non-dues paying' member of the Squantos Brigade.
I fully expect the ACLU to have him taken from military custody and tried in the criminal courts. Thus reducing his punishment to no more than deportation probably.
When you prosecute a phony war the citizenry doesn't act like there's a war. A military combatant, known to have conspired to kill Americans is a military matter.
But that's to much common sense for America. We would rather subject ourselves to mass murder than do what is necessary. Witness your figures on the number of Islamist scum entering this nation every day.
There is a chance we will wake up after more 9/11 type attacks but never in history has a nation had it's head so firmly and deeply planted in the sand.
Our present behaviour is worse than suicidal. We're making ancient Rome look good.
Oh, that's probably true.

'Bangladeshi Taliban'
It's generally accepted that the return to power of Prime Minister Zia has boosted Islamists in Bangladesh. Two of her junior coalition partners, Jamaat-i-Islami and the Islam Unity Council, are viewed as having pro-Taliban sympathies. Two Jamaat lawmakers are in the new cabinet.
Under Zia's former tenure - which ended in 1996 - Bangladesh "encouraged and allowed a large number of volunteers" to fight in Islamic struggles in Afghanistan and Kashmir, according to India's Institute for Conflict Management (ICM), which researches terrorism.
"A large number of these extremists are now present in Bangladesh and are spreading the Islamic fundamentalist movement in Bangladesh, which has extensive connections with ... al-Qaeda."
The ICM names Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islam as one group in Bangladesh allied to bin Laden, and says its members style themselves as the "Bangladeshi Taliban."
It says the organization, which boasts an estimated 15,000 activists, was established with the help of bin Laden in 1992. It runs at least six camps in the hilly Chattagong area, where cadres are trained in weapons use.
"Several hundred recruits have also been trained in various training camps of Afghanistan."
Members in 1999 were accused of attempting to kill a renowned poet, Shamsur Rahman, as part of a plot to kill at least 28 prominent Bangladeshi intellectuals.
Perhaps surprisingly, Bangladesh has not featured in the State Department's last six annual reports on global terrorism for 2000.
During the brief visit, Clinton canceled a planned trip to a village named Joypura, 60 miles from Dhaka, for "security reasons." A White House statement issued in New Delhi cited the risks of flying over dense, unguarded forests and rice paddies, but reports quoting U.S. officials said a specific threat had come from bin Laden or terrorists linked to him.
Right now, he's saying a LOT of what I'm thinking on this issue. It's all right on the shoulders of the Church Committee and the attacks that the Dems have mad on our intelligence community for YEARS. That is the major cause of 9/11.
We're making ancient Rome look good.Bump for the Romans.
My objection is to why people are complaining about random searches; they are necessary if we are looking at all possibilities.Who suggested anything so foolish?
The fact that some of the Islamic 5th Column doesn't fit a profile doesn't negate the fact that many do. Profiling is but one tool, one weapon against terrorists.
When the President shut down certain terrorist related bank accounts, did that take away all of their money? Was it a perfect solution? No, but it was a victory for us and a loss for them.
You didn't object to that measure, did you?
Sabertooth, you cannot seriously think we should open religious descrimination as an alternative. Not only is that unconstitutional, but it goes against the very foundations of our nation. In addition, that won't work either, because those who are terrorists will simply LIE.People don't like random searches in the absence of profiling because such searches are politically correct "Islam means peace" window dressing which ignore the obvious.
Do you really believe that the Establishment Clause of the 1st negates the obligation of the Federal Government to provide for the common defense? Islam harbors vast reservoirs of hate-filled adherents who want us destroyed, with many sympathizers in this country. Does the 1st Ammendment mean we ignore that?
So what if some of the terrorists will lie? The tendency of roaches to scatter when the lights are on doesn't mean you can't set traps where they tend to frequent.
The fact that criminals will react to the strategies of law enforcement shouldn't preclude actions that will result in the apprehension of a number of them.
Exactly the argument I've been making for months. The answer I most often recieve is that no Muslim would ever pretend to be a Christian or even an agnostic, because it's against their religion....to which I answer : "You wanna bet your life on that?"
