Palestinian officials would not say what caused the blast and tried to prevent journalists from entering the area.

I think this tells us a whole lot! You know that if it was an Israeli attack on them, they would have the press in there showing off all the fake victims and destruction. The fact that they don't want the press in and are not saying much speaks volumes...they don't want the world to see their own mistakes (in this case an accidental discharge of a terrorist's bomb while being built....

CORRECTION: ATTENTION - ADDS details on injured, ups damaged houses

GAZA CITY, June 10 (AFP) - More than 30 Palestinians were injured, some seriously, when a violent blast rocked Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical sources said early on Monday.

Palestinian security sources said the blast, the reason for which was initially unclear, almost totally destroyed a three-storey house in the camp and damaged more than 10 others in the area.

At least 32 people were injured in the explosion, among whom were a number of children, medical sources said.

Ambulances took the wounded, who were said to be in moderate to serious condition, to two hospitals in Gaza City.

According to witnesses in the camp, fires were still raging in the destroyed house, which belonged to the Abu Sharekh family, and the surrounding buildings.

Palestinian police were investigating the circumstances of the blast, security sources told AFP.

A powerful explosion shook a neighborhood in this refugee camp early Monday, destroying one building and damaging nearby homes. At least 25 people were injured, three critically, in the blast, which residents said came from inside the destroyed building. Palestinian officials would not say what caused the blast and tried to prevent journalists from entering the area. Palestinian police worked with flashlights to remove concrete blocks and evacuate the wounded to hospital. A potent smell of gas filled the area. Two floors of the devastated building collapsed on top of each other and rooftops close by also caved in from the blast, which could be heard in nearby Gaza City. Outside al Awda hospital in nearby Beit Lahia people walked outside still dazed from the explosion. Many of the wounded suffered shrapnel wounds from being hit by pieces of flying concrete.

Good. Natural selection at it's finest.

But I'm surprised that the Palis admitted the truth, rather than blaming this on Israel. Must be slipping.

They said the cause of the blast was unknown, but that it seriously damaged the house of a Palestinian military intelligence official in the camp.

It's often said that "military intelligence" is an oxymoron. In this case, this MI official is obviously non-intelligent, simply for living next to the house of a Pallie bomb maker.

Shrapnel wounds from flying concrete???

HUH? Shrapnel comes from bombs, mines or shells. As in Merriam -Webster:

SHRAPNEL:
1 : a projectile that consists of a case provided with a powder charge and a large number of usually lead balls and that is exploded in flight
2 : bomb, mine, or shell fragments

"Oops. Meant Refugee camp."

Refuse camp would have been more appropriate.
