"Palestinian officials would not say what caused the blast
and tried to prevent journalists from entering the area."Why would they not want journalists to see?
Hmmmmmm......
To: Chad Fairbanks
This will raise the statistics of Palestinian wounded vs Israeli wounded during this conflict, and make it look like they are victims of Israeli attacks.
To: onedoug
I'm doing a lot better that these poor Muslim victims of this bomb attack. I roundly condemn all such bomb attacks by the Palestinians. So does Kofi Annan but he doesn't post here. He's too busy with his Swedish wife. So you're stuck with me.

Oh yes, I'm sure the Islamic media is already cranking out stories about this "horrible attack against Palestinian civilians by the mean awful Israelis."
To: Diogenesis
But surely some brave and intrepid (and impartial) journalists are willing to sneak in! Jenin and Bethlehem were full of brave and intrepid (and impartial) journalists willing to risk life and limb for "the truth." This will certainly be no different.

Must be very disheartening to the survivors someone should send them a free pizza to cheer them up,ham and pineapple of course.

I'm still trying to figure out how a refugee camp is any different from any other city block. By definition, when you are living in a home or apartment with electricity, television, and on a city street one block from a grocery store, it ain't campin'.
Wait, maybe it's a "refugee camp" if your apartment includes a room where you make bombs....

I'm doing great. I was vacationing in Mecca for a few weeks. Doing that haj thing ya know. I planted a few homing beacons when I wasn't having a great time getting a tan by the hotel pool. Just give them a few SalamAlekums and they're friendly as can be over there.

From the AP:
Explosion Rocks Refugee Camp, Injures Dozens
The Associated Press
Published: Jun 9, 2002
JEBALIYA REFUGEE CAMP, Gaza Strip (AP) - A powerful explosion shook a neighborhood in this refugee camp early Monday, destroying one building and damaging nearby homes. At least 25 people were injured, three critically, in the blast, which residents said came from inside the destroyed building.
Palestinian officials would not say what caused the blast and tried to prevent journalists from entering the area.
Palestinian police worked with flashlights to remove concrete blocks and evacuate the wounded to hospital. A potent smell of gas filled the area.
Two floors of the devastated building collapsed on top of each other and rooftops close by also caved in from the blast, which could be heard in nearby Gaza City.
Outside al Awda hospital in nearby Beit Lahia people walked outside still dazed from the explosion. Many of the wounded suffered shrapnel wounds from being hit by pieces of flying concrete.

Looks like the one on its way over the green line will not bring Sharon back early like the last one.
Another working accident.
Guess they will have try another one.
And to think of all the uncompensated families ... it is heart breaking.
To: Thinkin' Gal
They said the cause of the blast was unknown Could we speculate?

I simply can not imagine living in such a small country, with terror happening on a near-daily basis. America has it easy, comparatively. We had a few big bangs, they have death by a thousand paper cuts. If America ever comes to a point where terrorism (not the threat of terrorism, but actual acts of terror) is part of daily life, we're in big trouble.

LOL!
There's a Story There..........:*)
