President Bush attended a NATO ceremony today called the 'Rome Declaration', which made Russia a junior member. Bush also raised concerns regarding the child sex scandal in the Catholic Church as he met with Pope John Paul. The President and First Lady returned to the White House late this afternoon. Get those right-clicks ready and enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Thanks, rintense, great pics tonight.

It must really upset all of the dimis that GW is so comfortable with the other foreign leaders. After all, he had no diplomatic skills or awareness of foreign affairs. HAHA!! It must drive x42 and al bore nuts to see him so friendly with everyone. And, I guess he solved the problem they claimed he had with name pronunciations...he just makes up his own "pet" names for them.

Here's the recipe:

Cinco De Mayo Soup

2 T olive oil
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1/2 onion (chopped)
3 cans chicken broth
3 T green chiles (diced)
2 cans corn niblets (11 oz each, drained)
2 cans diced tomatoes (15 oz each, drained)
1 can black beans (15 oz each, drained and rinsed)
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 C cilantro (chopped)

In a large pot, saute garlic and onions in oil on low for 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve with fresh cilantro, tortilla chips, and sour cream.

It has a bit of a kick to it, so keep some water handy. I also sprinkled a little bit of jack and colby cheese on top.

I'm sorry but I just have to comment on this picture. The President has a look on his face that comes across to me as somewhat worried or concerned ... maybe skeptical. I can't help but wonder if he is looking at that uniform, remembering what the Chinese guy gave them all to wear, and hoping that the world leaders won't be asked to dress up in that gear.

I'll go to my room now until I learn to behave better.

I too still have emotional days dealing with 9/11. It was a horrific thing. Beyond mourning our dead we have been robbed of our sense of safety and security. Over the weekend my teenage daughter had a very disturbing nightmare related to 9/11 that caught me by surprise as she hasn't been outwardly upset for several months. I can only imagine the nightmares of the children of NYC. It's ingrained in our psyches now.

Do you get the feeling that something's up with Blir and GW.....it looks like they are whispering or sizing up the rest of the crowd!

Thanks Rin, as always.

I get a very strong impression from looking at these pictures that Blair, Putin, etc., both like and respect President Bush.

Seven, I don't know if what you said about the Pope retiring is true or not. I always thought they served until death. This Pope has been so inspiring and true to our church. He came to Philadelphia in the fall of 1979 and I loaded my baby into a backpack and went down to see him say Mass. I was not aware I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. I've told them for years how blessed they both are to have been (literally) blessed by Pope John Paul II. I don't follow the politics of our Church too closely. I don't know of another with such greatness waiting in the wings. God willing, there will be another who will continue His true teachings.

Rintense, this European trip of President Bush has been wonderful. Thank you so much for posting so faithfully every day, so we could actually know what he was accomplishing there.

Thanks! Copied and printed. I'll look forward to trying this. My daughter and 4 of her friends are coming to visit for a "hooking" weekend and this will be great to fix.

(I'm referring to RUG hooking of course)

The tears still fall hysterically, and I swear I completely lose it when I see the images of the planes crashing into the towers... and then hear the voices of people calling loved ones... God bless the United States of America.

Just wanted to share the following from a recent email: Think of President George W. Bush, the man who admitted to having a drinking problem in younger years, whose happy-go-lucky lifestyle led him to mediocre grades in college and an ill-fated oil venture, who mangled syntax, and whose speaking missteps became known as Bushisms. He came within a hair's breadth of losing the election in November, but withstood the political chicanery of the Florida Democratic machine to fix the vote count. While votes were counted, miscounted and re-counted, Bush quietly but confidently waited at his ranch. Make no mistake, his orders were carried out but he stayed in the background, faithful and confident. Bush named Jesus Christ as Lord of his life on public TV, not an oblique reference to being "born- again" or having a "life change." He actually said the UN-Politically Correct phrase, "Jesus Christ"! On September 11, he was thrust into a position only known by Roosevelt, Churchill, Lincoln, and Washington. The weight of the world was on his shoulders, and the responsibility of a generation was on his soul. So President George W. Bush walked to his seat at the front of the National Cathedral just three days after two of the most impressive symbols of American capitalism and prosperity virtually evaporated. When the history of this time is written, it will be acknowledged by friend and foe alike that President George W. Bush came of age in that cathedral and lifted a nation off its knees. In what was one of the most impressive exhibitions of self-control in presidential history, President George W. Bush was able to deliver his remarks without losing his resolve, focus, or confidence. God's hand, which guided him through that sliver-thin election, now rested fully on him. As he walked back to his seat the camera angle was appropriate. He was virtually alone in the scene, alone in that massive place of God - just him and the Lord. Back at his seat, George H. W. Bush reached over and took his son's hand. In that gesture his father seemed to say, "I wish I could do this for you, son, but I can't. You have to do this on your own." President George W. Bush squeezed back and gave him a look of peace that said, "I don't have to do it alone, dad. I've got help." What a blessing to have a professing Christian as President. Please take a moment after you read this to pray for him. He truly does have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Pray that God will sustain him and give him wisdom and discernment in his decisions. Pray for his protection and that of his family. Sorry about the long length of the post.

Oh man! That recipe will make enough for around 6-8 people! I'll have enough for the rest of the month. I can't figure out what is making it so spicy- the green chiles of the cilantro/garlic. Garlic and onions are my fav so I added a bit extra. If they like Mexican food, they will LOVE this soup!
