Seven, I don't know if what you said about the Pope retiring is true or not. I always thought they served until death. This Pope has been so inspiring and true to our church. He came to Philadelphia in the fall of 1979 and I loaded my baby into a backpack and went down to see him say Mass. I was not aware I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. I've told them for years how blessed they both are to have been (literally) blessed by Pope John Paul II. I don't follow the politics of our Church too closely. I don't know of another with such greatness waiting in the wings. God willing, there will be another who will continue His true teachings.

Rintense, this European trip of President Bush has been wonderful. Thank you so much for posting so faithfully every day, so we could actually know what he was accomplishing there.

I'm not Catholic and not not even very religious, but I have tremendous respect for the Pope and his fight against communism and tyranny around the world. When I see Bush and the Pope together all I can think is "There are two great fighters for freedom."

As for Putin, I sense a real friendship between Bush and him. He wants so badly to make Russia part of Europe and the Christian world, rather than the third world countries that surround him in Asia. Russia's oil can help bring them there, while allowing the West to reduce dependence on our Muslim "allies".

Finally, I didn't know Bill Gates was at the European summit. There he is, top row, second from left, in the second photo of post 23!
