They are our sisters and brothers, despised by the world as our Savior promised us we would be. These are a few of the things that make them genuinely orthodox as opposed to trend of the week Amchurch "Catholicism" and its counterparts in the similarly decaying and dying "mainline" churches. They are the people who understand with the late great Baptist Reverend Mr. Criswell of Dallas: "A church starts to die when its throat is grasped by the palsied hand of liberalism." God bless them, each and every one.

If there were ever an award to be given for "Most eloquent Freeper", my vote goes to Black Elk...

Taken from the Current Communist Goals, 1963

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

Frightening, is it not?

And furthermore...

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

I hadn't thought of that verse before. Is your suggested context the only way that verse can be interpreted, or is there another possible explanation?

That's the way I understand it.

These passages also suggest a unified, visible Church:

For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. [suggests a single Church] (1 Corinthians 15:9)

...but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. [necessarily follows that the church is visible and unified doctrinally] (1 Timothy 3:15)

The Catholic church is still growing and learning from Vatican II

GROWING? You call the devastation of faith and morals and the unprecidented numerical decimation of the Church GROWING? Whole orders have died out since the devastation of Vatican II. Other orders have been taken over by sodomites and seminaries are closing down, one after the other, for lack of attendance. This is so off the wall that it is dificult to respond to. Pope Leo XIII predicted all of this from the horrific vision he had in 1884. Satan's minions attacked the Church from within and you call it GROWING and bringing the church into the modern world. Sheesh!

Yes, my friend. Something to think about. And, to whom do you think He was talking when Jesus told His disciples to go out and forgive men's sins? And later telling them that the sins they held bound on earth He would bind in heaven and those they loosened on earth He would loosen in heaven. Why would Jesus tell His disciples to forgive or hold men's sins bound? And did He intend to just leave the rest of us hanging when His disciples died off? And why didn't He tell ALL of his followers (like the seventy-two) to go and forgive sins? Questions to think about.
