Patriots Rally For America - Live Report
Dave Dilegge - Live From DC | 20 April 2002 | Mustang

Posted on 04/20/2002 7:56:53 AM PDT by Mustang

Received two cell calls from Dave. The stage is set. The flags are waving. The weather is great. They're ready to Roll! Around 0945 the crowd was 50+ including Kristinn, sauropod, Leadpenny, Angelwood, Exit 148, GoreWarVet, Dutchy, Congressman Billy Bob, Black Agnes, TaxMan, TGSL DeComa, WhoKnowsWhatEvil, FireBrand, Country Dummy, Stan Waite, Pro2aMom, 0351Dog. (please pardon any mispelled "names" or omissions. The cell connections were poor).

Around 1015 the crowd was continuing to grow, with some spill over from the Peacenik/anarchist nitwits. Dave reports that it was the port-o-potties that attracted them. But our fearless Freepers labelled the doors "Patriots" and Patriot Women". It seems to be turning them away.

More to follow. Mustang sends from Florida.

No Bob J, I will not do that. I will not follow the crowd when I believe the crowd is going in the wrong direction.

Nobody is asking you to follow a crowd, for God's sake, this is FR. They would like you to exhibit a little courtesy.

"'What amazes me is how they are able to gather such large crowds,' Bonach said, pointing to thousands nearby demonstrating against American policies.

Well, I'll tell you.

Their expenses to Washington, DC are paid for by various left wing groups! That's bloody how!

I got into a mild confrontation with some mush-headed college student from NY in front of a Porta-Potty. [LOL! We were not allowing outsiders to use our Porta-Potties. Really pissed some of them off! LOL!]

In the course of our "conversation," I asked him how he got to WDC: "On a bus." was his response. "Who paid for it," was my next question. "People for the American Way" was his response.

And, when I was driving around looking for tgslTakoma's and Gore War Vets vehicles, I saw several buses with signs in the front indicating that they were from Mosques in New York.

The point is that these people are not here on their own nickle. They have no investment in these demonstrations and are being used as pawns -- "Useful idiots" is how Joseph Stalin put it. They were here because it seemed like a fun thing to do -- "Road Trip" is what I believe events like this are called.

One last thing: They are super-trashy people! Filthy people -- WDC is a pretty city in the area we were in and down towards the Capitol Building, but this anti-American crowd really dirtied that part of the city, both in their appearance and in the trash they left behind. They are pigs, not fit to live in any society, not to mention a polite society!

OTOH, we left the FRee Republic rally site cleaner than we found it! And none of us dressed or looked like pigs!

WOW! DC allows poles? REAL poles? LOL ... used to NYC FReeps! Patriots All!!! &;-)

Yup. DC is truly liberal when it comes to the First Amendment (Thank God and the Consitution for that!). Only certain objects listed as "deadly weapons" in the local criminal code (i.e. guns, nunchucks, knives over a certain length, etc.) are "banned." This bullsh*t about picket signs being used as "weapons" is just b.s. imposed by the socialist states of Maryland and in NYC, too.

And yes, DC allows the other kind of poles, too, including "pols", opinion "polls" and real "Poles" from Poland. ;-)

This "Asian tourist"

Not to be confused with the other Asian tourist who wandered to the front of the stage with a silly sign. Sauropod politely pointed out to him that several of the words on his sign were misspelled.

While your point does not go unacknowledged, the answer probably lies somewhere in the "mushy" middle. Our government is still the best there is, albeit imperfect. And our way of life needs to be defended against even more tyrranous systems.

Oh my gosh! You're not kidding! As I left the rally and looked across the street, the lawn was filled with trash. Very little of it was bagged for pick up. These Palestinians and others just threw their crap all over the place. Our area was spotless. I wasn't surprised but as the Freepers left the rally area you wouldn't have known anybody had been there except for the stage and the booths that were still standing.

They farm the universities, that's how. Why we don't do the same seems like suicide to me. There are at least 20% of college students who are silenced and many more who we don't even acknowlege as having brains who could help us with the vibrant energy of youth. Yet, we just dismiss them. Let's get going and take the universities, and Community Colleges back! PR is everything.

Take off your tinfoil hat. Make yourself a huge, steming mug of catnip and chamomile tea, kick off your shoes if you're wearing them, slap a good movie into the VCR, CHILL OUT and RELAX.

Hint, hint.

"I think the movement is beginning to wake up,"

I rode the Metro back and had discussions with a bunch of these "Movement" people - the ones wearing bright yellow t-shirts with "MOVEMENT" in block red letters. There were 40 of them who all car-pooled down from Maine. You know - the ones with signs that said "Why Iraq?"

They're actually quite intelligent though obviously misguided. If it weren't for the fact that our permit didn't allow debate*

, I would have preferred if we/the Police would have let some of them in. They could have learned some things.

* I guess this is because the District of Columbia is under the jurisdiction of congress and doesn't have to follow the freedom of speach provision of the Constitution. Well, we all knew that already.

It's not that we dismiss them. It's that the grassroots American public aren't financed by huge outside funding sources like the left wing is. I would not doubt that the same people who contribute heavily to the DNC also contribute to these professional protestors. They sure aren't getting their money by holding bake sales. Can you imagine?

"Yo, DUDE! Wanna buy some BROWNIES!? I madum myself! Twelve dollars a half dozen, man! What?!? That's not highway robbery, man! These brownies are good $H!T!! Made with the BEST Lebonese hash money can BUY, man! Cheap at TEN TIMES THE PRICE!"
