Fresno, California's weekly Support Our Troops FReep 4-19-02

What a difference a week makes! Tonight's Support Our Troops FReep was night and day different from the FReeps of the last two weeks. While last week there were approximately one hundred Peaceniks/Pro-Palestinian demonstrators, this week I would estimate that there were only about twenty-five of them. What surprised me the most as I drove up to FReeper Corner on the southwest corner of Blackstone and Shaw in Fresno, CA, was the huge number of supporters of Israel that showed up! I bet there were at least forty of them. Lots of them stood on our corner with us, but most of them were sharing the corner across the street from us with the peaceniks and Palestinian supporters who always congregate there.
Almost twenty FReepers and patriots were able to make tonight's rally. Jim Robinson and his family brought their boom box and collection of patriotic tunes like they usually do. The weather was so mild today that many people who drove by had their windows down and enjoyed listening to our music while they waited for the light to turn green. Motorists driving by showed their support for us by honking enthusiastically and yelling encouraging words out their windows.
A couple of peaceniks stopped by tonight and engaged in a heated discussion on the issue of our support for Israel with Jkphoto. We were all so proud of Jkphoto and the way he presented our side of the argument!
FReepers attending tonight were:
- Jim, Chris, and Sheila Robinson
- JustAmy
- Gracie1
- Senorita
- JKPhoto
- kmiller1k
- Mtngrl@vrwc
A big thanks to all who were able to make it to tonight's rally! To those of you who couldn't make it, we hope to see you soon!

The pro-terrorist contingent are probably overnighting it in the Baghdad-by-the-Bay (San Francisco) for the big pro-terrorist rallies Saturday. Wish me luck.

It was a calmer night than the last two. I think the police saw how the situation could very easily have gotten out of hand. They mostly made them stay on their side of the street.
The paper today ran an article about the pro-Israeli supporters and how they tried to engage the other side in a dialogue. Good luck! I have to say they sure have a lot guts!

A word to the wise: watch your backs, have a camera or camcorder handy, and be on the alert for anything that doesn't "jive". You never can be to safe.

It was a really great night. We took over our corner again! Thanks to all you newcomers, please come back! It was so nice to have so much support from the drivers honking their horns like crazy again. The past two weeks people were apprehensive about what was taking place on our corner.

I liked the part about the pro-Israel's on 'peacenik corner' -- Hope the anti-American weasels weren't too intimidated . . ;^)
