HEADGATE OPENS FRIDAY!

Just got off the phone with Barb Hall and THE WATER WILL FLOW! This is the stuff history is made of. Strongly suggest that anyone who can make it that is about property rights - be there!

HEADGATE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wed Mar 27 09:21:48 2002
198.81.16.33

All,

Just talked to Jim Bryant Chief, Division of Water and Lands at BOR and here's what he said:

Gail Norton, Ann Vennamen, and Gordon Smith will be here Friday March 29th to officially open the headgates. The press release that Jim had from DOI said that all will happen between 9:30 to 10:45 AM.

I checked the DOI website for the press release and it hasn't been posted yet. Will let you know more as I learn it.

Forget him. He has been told this several times and keeps coming up with his second grade mantra re subsidized water.

Whenever we have good news, the losers on life have to come out and try to pour their miserable outlook on life on the winners!

"Finally! Subsidized water!!"

You need to read the data if you think the farmers are subsidized.
They own the water (it's in their deeds), paid for the original construction cost years ago.
And last year still had to pay a water bill.

Excellent. One for the right side (they don't happen often enough to ignore). Bump for reason.

IT IS THEIR WATER!

What exciting news!! Thanks to you, JeffHead, GrandpaDave and each and every one of the patriots who fought and fought. And kept us informed. And put up the petition for us to sign. Pardon the tears in my eyes. These tears are for YOU!

And I remember the naysayers who poohpoohed President Bush's words as he stood there. And bless Rush for helping. God bless you all, and bless the farmers that managed to hang on and those who had to give up their farms.

Klamath Headgate to Open!!!

WooooHoooo!
This is awesome news! I congratulate everyone who helped on this project!
I'm also very proud of the farmers and ranchers...it could have been very ugly.
Thanks to you both for the pings! One can never be pinged enough where good news like this is concerned.

Veneman and Norton are opening the gates as if it is their water to control???

Sorry guy, I don't buy it. This means nothing for property rights. It means that you made enough noise to get them to go back to the drawing board to come back later or put the screws to somebody else.

It's not over.

Hey Dip Switch(A dummy who lets the greens program him). They paid for water last year; did not get. paying for it this year. Pd for the facilities 40 years ago and gov lawyers are working on transferring facilities to them as we speak. When the farms and system was not there; more water went to the area where farms are in winter early spring and evaporated in hot summer. And in hot summer the river was dry part of the time below Link Dam.With the system and dam the water was stored in lake and allowed river to flow all summer as well as farms operate using less water than went to area to start with. And the refuges for birds were kept watered also.Until 2 years ago when your greenie friends started draining the refuges letting the weeds grow killing the birds. And there was plenty of water. The shortage is just a scam.Ed Hubel.

You're right of course, darling, but it's better than what we had.

Yes. It is a small win for the farmers. For that I am indeed thankful. We live long enough to fight another day.

I wanted to blunt the hyperbolic cheering a little, somehow claiming that this was a victory for property rights. It isn't. Best that nobody rolls over and goes back to sleep.

This was only Round 1.
