I think it would be nice to collect a list of all of the things President Bush has accomplished thus far in his term. In an effort to provide FAIR and BALANCED coverage to President Bush's administration, I thought interested Freepers could post accomplishments, both large and small, which they appreciate.
Please do not hesitate to list EO's, roll-backs of EO's, regulation changes with which you are familiar, etc.
All positive accomplishments are welcome. If you have negative comments, please post them on the other thread. Thank you.
Yesterday I would have been proud to be considered part of that group. Today, I'm sitting here feeding autographed pictures of Republican presidents past and present into my shredder.
I'm completely disillusioned by Bush and the Republican party. Where's the difference between them and the fascist DemonRats we worked so hard to get rid of last November? The lines have blurred to the point that I can't tell the difference anymore.
And I suppose insinutating that anybody who disagrees with you is unpatriotic, unprincipled, and unAmerican wins people over to your side?
Tell me about it. I participate in the NRA at a donor level that is a significant amount for my income. I do this because I believe the Second Amendment is the lynchpin of our Constitution. The NRA is now forced to use money desperately needed for pro-gun battles around the country to fight an unconstitutional law, one our president knew darn full well is UN-CONSTITUTIONAL.
Please, be my guest: Provide for me a quote in which I insinuate this!
(Discussions of shortness do not count)
There was 8 long years of not being able to say president without repenting for the thoughts that I had for the man that held that office. Why begrudge us a thread that helps to stay focused on what President Bush is accomplishing and in such a short time.
We're just giving credit and honor where it's due. Does it help if we thank our Congress also for helping Bush accomplish anything?
Honesty
Honor
Credibility
And MORE!
Thanks for the clarification. This is the rifle you should buy:
And at this point in our history, this is the priority.
I see that the detractors have been busy complaining about a thread that praises the job done thus far by our President. Two hundred "I-hate-Bush-and-he's-lost-my-one-vote-for-the-fourth-time-this-week" and no one complains. One positive thread, and here they all are whining about those of us who support the President.
It's OK to be a Bush basher and proudly proclaim yourslef a "one issue voter, and Bush likes Mexican too much", but Bush supporters ar required to defend their support and argue down every single word he utters.
How completely disingenous of the detractors.
My take on CFR is that it appears that a section or two may be in fact found to be unconstitutional, but I am no constitutional expert, like every single other High-School-graduate-with-a-computer-and-a-modem posting constitutional opinions in FR. I am a brawler.
That's what Bush is involved in, a brawl with both the left, and the extreme right. And many here expect him to observe the Marquis de Queensbury rules at a street fight.
I want to win, and to win you must play politics.
I think that's why Bush signed CFR.
Think of the options.
If he vetoes, it may be overcome. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they don't know anymore than you or I do. Or it will return during a Democratic White House.
Not only that, but in the coming elections, we would see McCain screaming from the rooftoops that Bush is anti-reform, and that he supports the corrupt system in place now.
By signing the Bill, Bush is counting on SCOTUS overturning some parts, or all of it.
Then Bush can campaign against McCain and the unconstitutional bill he authored.
Me? I gave my vote to Bush, and with it my support (barring Clinton-like excesses) for a period of four years. At the end of those four years, I will check his report card, and see what percentage of what he did I spprove of. Sixty to seventy-five percent will get him my vote, and four more years of support.
If he actually delivers a solid 75%, I will find myself agreeing with him more often than I do with my wife.
Luis
But since you asked he has given us the example of character, humility, common decency. Simple dedication to the fundamental human basics are attributes of all great men and women.
Lesser folks never understand this and it can't be taught in books.
