This just reported on Fox news. A 10 year old child in Pennsylvania was accidentally shot in the head during a school demonstration by an off-duty cop.
The child is expected to survive.
Thanks. As an Leo, much of the way I do my job has to with the way I was raised. A small part has to do with being a Freeper. I have to admit, there have been some on FR that have enlightened me about what's important. Such as the importance of reading and understanding the entire constitution rather than just the obligatory operations amendments like the 4th.
Well, you are right. With freedom, comes responsibility. There is no way anyone can excuse a shooting accident like this. It simply should never happen, and when it does, they need to face the music, and take the responsibility for it.
Amen, Brother...
The Glock doesn't have a "hammer". It has a spring loaded striker. There is no tension on that spring until you pull the trigger fully to the rear. The trigger pull is identical every time. Just like a DAO with a concealed hammer. It is never "cocked". A "dry" fired Glock must have the slide retracted about 1/2 inch to reset the trigger/striker assembly for the next operation.
My one complaint with the Glock design is the lack of a disconnector to prevent firing with the slide out of battery. It is also a pain to operate the release just right when you field strip it for cleaning.
yup? and i'll bet the part they conveniently forgot to report is that she tried to catch it.
you do that at an idpa match, you are disqualified. for obvious reasons...
poorly trained officer, if this is indeed the case.
Your prescient #43.
That's my biggest complaint.
They both won. Or lost, depending on your perspective.
the release you pull down to remove the slide is available in a slightly oversized version...
to make it easier to break down the piece to clean it. inexpensive and easy to replace part.
it's the same as the original, but a little longer (side to side) to make it easier to grab one-handed.
Must be a big hands/small hands thing, I have no problem at all, in fact, I find it easier to break down than most of my other handguns. The flip side is that I can't get a good grip on the lil baby Glocks.
While this was going on, the kid was parking the stolen car back at the precinct where he got it...
See post# 111: "He said the officer involved, whom he would not name, was a woman who joined the department in 1996. "
Another news article noted the officer there was the mother of one of the kids in the class.
The women YOU train and associate with, and the women I train and associate with are pretty good with guns. This does not mean that the barrel-bottom-scrapings that are hired for the Philly PD will be.
You fail to notice that I posted this many hours ago when the story was just breaking and it was reported that the child was hit in the head, not the cheek. I'm not a psychic!
What double safeties? You click the thumb safety and stand your ground. Are you talking about the grip safety? The only way you'd have to "fool" with that is if you weren't gripping the weapon!
