I am a hardcore pro gun nut, but I just cringe everytime I see a Glock, reguardless if its loaded or not.

On the positive side, it FORCES you not to rely on a safety. For experienced shooters, it FORCES the competent shooter to practice proper gun safety.

This guy was an idiot. Pray for the child and discharge this person from the force immediately. Negligent discharges are bad enough, this is inexcusable.

You're right; he was negligent.
He's going to be skinned alive, too.
Now, watch what the gun grabbing Left does to *spin* this accident to further their cause.

...then; come back & talk about the non-PC ramifications of this unfortunate incident.

Thank Christ the kid is going to make it.
My God! How stupid do you have to be to bring a loaded gun to a demonstration at a school!?
This cop should never be allowed to carry a weapon again. Assume the gun is ALWAYS loaded, unless you can prove otherwise.
Damn! Stupidity. Stupidity. Stupidity. Stupidity. Stupidity. Stupidity.

Thinking you may treat a weapon you think is unloaded differently than one you know to be loaded is how accidents happen.

Yep, NO SUCH THING as an UNLOADED gun.

The cop should be fired. Period. Violated every aspect of gun safety.

Never point the gun at something you aren't willing to destroy.
The gun is always loaded.
Keep your finger away from the trigger until ready to fire it.

Glocks are great weapons, but sales should be restricted to those with IQs above room temperature.

Not to worry. This clown in blue will fit in well with the DC Metro police south of where this tragedy occurred...

The gun should have never come out of the holster.

Student grazed by bullet during school [NBC local]

" PHILADELPHIA - The child, who was not identified, was believed to be in good condition, said Temple University Children's Hospital spokesman Andy Smith.

The incident occurred at 2:46 p.m. at the Imani Education Circle Charter School in the city's Oak Lane section, said Sgt. Roland Lee.

He said the officer involved, whom he would not name, was a woman who joined the department in 1996.

"I'm not sure what kind of demonstration it was," Lee said. Officers conducting programs in schools might carry a gun, but shouldn't pull it out, Lee said.

The telephone at the school was busy and administrators could not be reached for comment. The charter school is run by a community board of directors."

.

My bet, since the Sgt. wasn't aware of the purpose of the visit, it wasn't a PD sponsored demonstration, probably show-and-tell like I mentioned before.

Sig has no external safety so it incorporates a heavier trigger pull

I bought a SIG .45 recently, I wondered why it's trigger pull was so heavy.
I actually don't like that.

VERY tragic story, what can be said.
This is WHY we call them COMMANDMENTS of gun safety,
they are NOT to be broken as there is always consequences.

As I learned it, there are only two types of firearms discharges: deliberate and negligent. 'Accidents' only happen when negligence causes them.

That's how the NRA taught me.

That's how the NRA taught me to teach people, too.

Not at all - why?????? I'm in CT so I have no idea about this school district other than what I've seen here. Seems they have major problems with those who are in charge of the children.

Sorry .. but it sounds like it was a women cop ..

I *TOTALLY* disagree!!!!! Women seem to have a MUCH better sense of safety with firearms than ANY man I have ever trained!!!!

Well, that's exactly where I learned it. BFSC class a long long time ago. Some things just stick with you, especially when they're taught very well.
