This just reported on Fox news. A 10 year old child in Pennsylvania was accidentally shot in the head during a school demonstration by an off-duty cop.
The child is expected to survive.
On the positive side, it FORCES you not to rely on a safety. For experienced shooters, it FORCES the competent shooter to practice proper gun safety.
This guy was an idiot. Pray for the child and discharge this person from the force immediately. Negligent discharges are bad enough, this is inexcusable.
...then; come back & talk about the non-PC ramifications of this unfortunate incident.
Yep, NO SUCH THING as an UNLOADED gun.
All too true.
Let me guess ... you're not familiar with Germantown .. LOL
Never point the gun at something you aren't willing to destroy.
The gun is always loaded.
Keep your finger away from the trigger until ready to fire it.
Not to worry. This clown in blue will fit in well with the DC Metro police south of where this tragedy occurred...
Student grazed by bullet during school [NBC local]
" PHILADELPHIA - The child, who was not identified, was believed to be in good condition, said Temple University Children's Hospital spokesman Andy Smith.
The incident occurred at 2:46 p.m. at the Imani Education Circle Charter School in the city's Oak Lane section, said Sgt. Roland Lee.
He said the officer involved, whom he would not name, was a woman who joined the department in 1996.
"I'm not sure what kind of demonstration it was," Lee said. Officers conducting programs in schools might carry a gun, but shouldn't pull it out, Lee said.
The telephone at the school was busy and administrators could not be reached for comment. The charter school is run by a community board of directors."
.
My bet, since the Sgt. wasn't aware of the purpose of the visit, it wasn't a PD sponsored demonstration, probably show-and-tell like I mentioned before.
I bought a SIG .45 recently, I wondered why it's trigger pull was so heavy.
I actually don't like that.
VERY tragic story, what can be said.
This is WHY we call them COMMANDMENTS of gun safety,
they are NOT to be broken as there is always consequences.
That's how the NRA taught me.
That's how the NRA taught me to teach people, too.
The good Lord must dearly Love Stupid People....because he seems to have made soooooooooo many of 'em....
Prayers sent for the child and Family !!
I *TOTALLY* disagree!!!!! Women seem to have a MUCH better sense of safety with firearms than ANY man I have ever trained!!!!
That's how the NRA taught me to teach people, too.
Well, that's exactly where I learned it. BFSC class a long long time ago. Some things just stick with you, especially when they're taught very well.
