Live From CPAC!

The Buzz of activity at this booth is so hectic that it might be difficult to maintain this thread. Our booth is on the corner overlooking Radio Row and directly across the aisle from The Leadership Institute. We are adjacent to the Washington Times Monthly, and diagonal to Ocents.com (Seeking the Truth's product booth). Already the attendance for CPAC seems to exceed the years I have previously attended.

We just spent about ten minutes with Mark Levin of Landmark Legal Foundation (Freeper - Hold On Now) and conservative luminaries are literally walking the halls. IronJack is right now interviewing David Horowitz for FreeRepublic Radio.

Abner and Abner's husband victim of circumstance are filling a helium flag balloon that will be flying around the room in mere moments. We saw shots of their US Flag Balloon in a football stadium in Brazil as it nears completion. We will have her post this photo asap.

Freepers that are here at CPAC are wondering in and out and attending the forums. We wll have them check in here from time to time and keep you posted.

Please keep this thread bumbed and feel free to post questions that we can use on Free Republic Radio.

Just a little update ----but first of all, the Freeper in the red jacket in post#70 is 'mware' from the great state of NJ and whom I've had the pleasure of Freeping with at the WH during the (blechhh) Clinton years. Also, next to Seeking the Truth is his better half, the lovely and vivacious, Darlie.

Tonight at the dinner, I had, as a table partner, a guy from the American Coalition of Fathers and Children. Interesting, organized, and hardworking group, that are dedicated to Father's rights. It is always SO great to meet such diverse groups with core interests.

Dinner was good - I'm always amazed how they can turn out REALLY good meals for so many at one time! (Salmon and Fillet Mignon - each with its own sauce, and the best mashed potatoes I've had since I left my mother's kitchen!

Many standing O's, and especially for Jesse Helms. Someone told me today that no matter how tough and fierce a warrier he is On the Hill, he is as sweet as can be in his office to his staff. Jesse Helms a 'sweetie'? I'll have to add that to my image of him! LOL!

All I had to do was close my eyes when Art Linkletter was speaking, and I was transferred back to his early years. I'm not one who always listened to him when I was a kid and always wanted to be on his show ----but I always wanted MY kids to be on his show!!LOL! (Actually I didn't have kids then, but it just goes to show that he appealed to everyone, and his wit hasn't diminished one bit! You would NEVER believe he was almost 90!!!!

Laura S. was also a hit. I have to be truthful and say that she irritates the heck out of me sometimes, (actually most of the time) but all her positions have been right on, and she pointed that out in her talk, which centered on the effects of 9/11, and basic truths. She is a great speaker - very colorful, and one REALLY listens when she speaks. That was quite evident on "Radio Row". All the radio link-ups are in one area,and she always had a crowd in front of her. Ellen Ratner was there today, also --- but I didn't see any crowds! (heehee!)

Asa Hutchinson was up at the head table, but didn't speak. Many other faces were seen at the tables - Mike Barnicle, Brent Bosell, Innis from CORE, Gary Aldrich. These Conservative gatherings are a junkies delight!

Well, beddie bye time! I'll be ready for another 'fix' tomorrow! LOL!

Keep biting that tongue Argh! We're having a blast. Just got back to the room...having drinks with OPH, Rika and Dubya, among other freepers in the bar.

Wishing I had much more time with the freepers but I'm CPAC staff so I'm on the run...and have the corns and blisters to prove it.

Dio and I did work in enough time for another three way with OPH this afternoon....LOL (that's an inside joke for the WFTD class.).

Wishing more of you were here...FRN rules CPAC.

We've been working to get together with leaders of some of the big conservative outfits here to talk about our plans for the FR Network, and take the first steps towards working with them as strategic partners. The Leadership Institute is very interested in working with us to design a special two-day course on direct activism, which they'll present anywhere in the country there are 30 or more interested freepers. I had an excellent talk with one of the managing editors from the Washington Times, who laughed out loud when I showed him some of our protest photos, including "Get out of Cheney's House." He said, "What you did really made a difference. You guys rock." We'll be working with the Times to provide their National Edition to Network Chapters at a steep discount -- something they can use as part of their own fundraising.

Got to meet David Horowitz, Mark Levin and Armstrong Williams. Tonight we're hosting the cocktail party for CPAC Co-Sponsors right before dinner, which should provide some more opportunities to get the word out. We're also talking to various organizations about doing some professional fundraising for the Network and setting up a major-league Network web site.

So far, everyone I've talked to thinks freeper activism is a fine thing, and would love to see more of it.

Now to work out how best they can help...

Pssst, Shrew, have you seen Larry Klayman anywhere there? I swear, he seemed to pop up like the tourist guy in last year's pictures. LOL

He didn't just "pop up" out of nowhere last year in the FReeper pictures... last year FReepers liked him and what he stands for (honesty and integrity in government, accountability of elected and appointed government officials, etc.)

But it appears that there are some folks here on FR who will support these fine goals only when they are applied against Democrats, reminding me (sadly) of the old, "He may be a crook, but he's our crook," line; and will gleefully ridicule those who have a code of ethics that they stick to.

While we say to the many Americans who are on the fence about the questionable ethics used by the Democrat party that our party is morally and ethically superior to the Dems, we don't really seem to mean it. If we did, we wouldn't be making excuses for behavior by members of "our side" that we decry when it's done by the Dems. I dislike the "Do as I say, not as I do," attitude of the Republican party apologists who have mercilessly attacked Larry Klayman (and Alan Keyes, and Bob Barr, and other good men and women) for sticking with his goal of honesty and integrity in government service.

I am proud of the few pictures I have in which I am standing alongside these fine people. I wish there were more who stood up for doing the right thing.

Bigun, had lunch with Saropod yesterday, such a nice man. I do wish that you were here. There is so much to see, hear and learn. There seems to be no end to the young people attending from around the country. But what was surprising to me, we the young people from the UK.

I'm meeting new faces with with familiar names. Renewing old acquaintences. There is so much to learn from EVERYONE. I don't know where to start.
