Hahahaha!!! The supporter of Senator Campaign Finance!!! How delicious!!
Bill Kristol got more money than anyone in the Congress. Ha!
Well, let's just see who else got money, especially given that now Marc Rich is oozing into the picture!
And I want to complain right here and now that I didn't get one red cent. Life is so unfair!!

If he didn't have a puff piece on Enron in the Weekly Standard, I'd be disappointed.

KRISTOL GOT $100,000 FROM ENRON: No wonder the dang company went bankrupt, they gave out millions of dollars, like customers leave pennies in the tray at convenience stores.
To: constitoot
Now we know why McKristol is laying low and says there's nothing to see here, let's move along. This is almost as delicious as Jesse Jackson's love child. Bring on the Enron investigations! I wanna see the hypocrites exposed!
To: constitoot
McKristol, advisor to finance reformer McComplain/McKeating, taking big bucks from Demron. The circle is complete or somesuch...

That does it! I've had it!
I'm going to start a class action for everybody who didn't get any money from Enron. I'm going to name Enron and everyone who did get money from them as defendants.
I want mine!
Now would someone point me to a blood-sucking lawyer...

Kristol will be labeled a "conservative Republican" at every opportunity, so I'm not laughing or drooling at all about this.

Dear Billy Kristol, My favorite uncle, Mr. Ponzi, has some tulip bulbs that he would like to sell. How much $$$ will it cost for you to write a favorable article about tulips and their investment value. Yours truly, Ima Dupe Widows and Orphans Relief Society

I don't think this indicts Kristol. I don't always agree with this guy, particularly his love for McLame, but I do believe he's an honest conservative.

"it doesn't mean he did anything wrong. but jesus, he's a JOURNALIST presumably, right?" Is there any reason to give money to journalist other than to gain favorable treatment?
Think about it.
In the case of politicians, it is quite proper to reward and support those who already agree with your view -- quite aside from attempting to gain access and influence. I.e., there is a legitimate and benign motivation for contributing to a political candidate.
There is absolutely no alternative, and benign, reason for giving money to a journalist!
"Media Relations" is a corporate function designed to achieve favorable media treatment, of course. But even the Media Relations department would never give money to a journalist. It would be a gross breach of professional ethics.
Kristol is in deep professional doo-doo. Or should be...

I'm beginning to think I missed the boat on this one. Maybe Enron wouldn't have given me any money, but there probably would have been no harm in asking. Oh well. Live and learn.
