Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.
I know you didn't address that to me, and I don't believe porn is some recent invention. But can I still see the book? Please?
Pretty please???
I believe in states rights, the Second Ammenment, small Government, reduced taxation, far less state welfare, capitial punishment and a whole bunch of other things that people identify with conservatives. I have voted Repulican all my life. I believe in the Freedom to pursue life, liberty and happiness on an idivitual basis. I also believe that most of you want this also.
Yet, there are some of you who wish to curtail the freedoms of others. Freedoms such a free choice for women, freedom for homosexuals to live their lives with liberty and happiness, freedom for women to live as equals, freedom for people read what makes them happy, etc. If this site is exclusively for those that hold beliefs in both the first and second catagories, then it really should be named the "Limited Free Republic" since the site really would stand for LIMITED freedom. If the site can benefit from members who believe in the first catagory but not the second, then the current name is justified.
It has been my experience that there only a few members who truely hold to the beliefs in the second catagory. However, it does seem that those very few speak in a loud voice just like the minority liberal protestors we hear and see our street corners.

Life is pretty boring in an echo chamber. It's all about discourse. It would be pretty dull around here if people posted articles followed by 250 replies that said nothing but "bump" or "bttt".
Hey! I ain't no homeostatual!
(Not that there's anything wrong with that....)
None that I can think of. Maybe that's because we don't get so pissed off that we lose control...or maybe its because we aren't as passionate about our cause as the Brigadiers or the paleocons...
It could also be a result of the paleo-cons taking their balls and going elsewhere. Arator sent me an email advising of a new paleo-con friendly site that has opened for business. Even though I am a "Bushie", Arator and I eventually got along pretty well. Who knows. Maybe there has been a rash of bannings that have depleted the paleos ranks. Maybe they are just taking a break from FR. Maybe the libertarians are just being extra active. We do have a lot of new posters. Maybe its a combination of things, including the paleos not really having to say anything (as opposed to having nothing to say). Somefolks don't post when they have nothing to say. (Wish the same could be said for those who start the vanities that turn into cheese or moose threads.)
Maybe, they are all out working and are too busy to surf FR. Time will tell. I'm sure they will be back.
Having survived some of the truly nuclear flame wars, it is my observation that if one posts only to intelligent threads and avoids responding to juvenile name-calling and personal attacks, one can very often still find stimulating discourse.
Remember it's higher authority morality versus theirs which is up to the individual. Sort of like those Hebrew National Frankfurter commercials...chin up!!!! Nopardons, I apologize for bailing on you so early in the fight.
I just don't see the value in a forum that allows only one type of thought. That sounds like demonrats.com - I can't count the times I've been banned from them for putting forth (gasp) opposing views.
It is of great value to confront opposing views and either defeat the view with fact and logic, or agree to investigate the view more thoroughly due to an inability to refute the fact and logic of the view.
Of course you get a lot of "I'm right/you're wrong"s with no fact or logic behind them - but that's just cop outs in evidence- ie folks who refuse to open their minds to another view but are unable to articulate the reasons for their rejection of a view.
WHat I like about FR is that I can persuade and be persuaded through debate.
I loathe those name callers though- the diminish the value of FR. I also greatly dislike those who assert a position, cannot defend it, then switch to the liberal name calling game. THose people are to be fully ignored.
In summary, I enjoy reading, debating, refuting, and learning. I am confident that the conservative/libertarian position is far more buttressed by fact and logic- so I would predict that FR will stay that way. We're in a swing right now. Maybe DU has a cyber-al qaeda after us?!
Secondly. repeal the 19th Amendment. ;^)
Thirdly, God didn't grow any bad plants. :^)
Fourthly, really, really try to slow down your breathing. ;^)
(All in good fun) ;^)
Amen Brother!
I smoke pot = I love freedom ?
