What has happened to Free Republic

Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate I'm not sure why you blame Libertarians for disagreeing with this. The Minnesota Libertarian Party ran a survey at the state fair one year and asked several hundred men and women to take a political policy quiz. When sorted by gender, women were in fact noticably more liberal, i.e. paternalistic in their political views. They liked big government better.
So actually real research by Libertarians favors your point of view that women are more socialistic than men. So why get mad at Libertarians?

The 60's radicals managed to change societies preceptions on right and wrong, but right and wrong have not changed. PLease tell me you are not so stupid to think that porn did not exist before the 60's? If you honestly believe this, I have a book full of porn photos from the 1910's and '20s. You may enjoy it.

Yeah...everybody wants a bunch of Appalachian snake-handlers remaking America in the image of their religious beliefs. Yep....and everybody wants a bunch of Randian/Kantian handwringers running this war...right???
Just keep your self derived morality outta our war ok???...and I'll do the same for you. So the ethos of Judeo/Christian Conservatism is best represented by Appalachin Snake Handlers?
Could I assume the best of Libertarianism is best represented by Harry Browne's cowardice? or Ayn Rand's views on the sanctity of her marriage?
Do you think the Founding Fathers were anti-Christian perhaps?..think again.

This is a standard complaint that is posted at least once every two or three months. It's a special with the "Kvetch of the Month Club." Of course, there's some substance to it. Libertarians have asserted themselves more recently, perhaps because the last election was so klugey. The level of conflict appears to have escalated too; seldom do disagreements get resolved in any kind of amicable fashion anymore. And irrelevant, inane postings seem to be proliferating at the expense of reasoned political discourse. Pregnant Barbies and Expando-Jeans for Men seem the order of the day, while informed analysis of post-Taliban Afghanistan goes begging.
However, FR seems to be remarkably homeostatic. Given enough time, it always seems to restore itself to normalcy.
But every swing of the pendulum seems to get a little longer ...

And you have the balls to say this when you've been on here since Nov 13, 2001, honey? The audacity is rather breathtaking, isn't it?!-)

you wrote: someone needs to protect the unprotected? so the government is to be our caretaker? Now who is the liberal sorry pal - I choose freedom, and the responsibility it entails... Laws are in place to allow us all to live and pursue what ever we want out of life, so long as your pursuits don't infringe on the same rights of others have. I gave an example of your neighbor wanting to kill their "born" children. How about your neighbor wanting to kill you? There is a point when the law protects you regardless of what your neighbor may think is THEIR right. An unborn child desperately need someone to protect them. Oh! and your next argument, when does life begin. At conception. 26 chrosomes joined with 26 chrosomes (one egg-one sperm)= a human being (temporarily in developement)

Your article has a serious illogical statement. You decry the increase of liberal posts and libertarian posters. These two items while tied together by you are not related. The fact that you put them together leads me to question the knowledge and conclusions behind the rest of your post.

........What has happened to Free Republic......
A good question you have posed.
Now the better question is......
What would you like to see done about it or what would you do about the perceived problem(s)?
However, maybe you would like to take your complaint over to this thread of Mr. Robinson's from a few days ago and blast away.......

Ok, this is a free for all thread. Come in and take your best shots. I promise I won't delete it or get upset. Get it out of your systems and then we will see if we can solve the problems. There always several sides to any story and several possible solutions to any problem. I'd like to hear them all and I'd like to solve as many problems as we can and get this forum kicking socialist butt again instead of kicking each other. So, please anyone with a complaint or a problem or a possible solution, (moderators, posters, FAB, everyone) please chime in. Thanks, Jim

What happens when liars and frauds with power, risk losing that power because of their misdeeds?
They pass anti-freedom unconstitutional anti bill-of-rights legislation, that can be used to deprive liberty loving Americans of their freedom, and the ability to challenge the status quo.

Just out of curiosity: Why is it that when female voters tend to vote Democratic the Republicans have a "gender gap problem," but when male voters tend to vote Republican (overwhelmingly, in the case of white males) nobody seems to think the Democrats have the same problem? The answer is in two parts. Firstly, "teh gender gap" is a value-free term, which indicates a discrepancy of behaviours. Secondly, for someone who is openly partisan, any non-favorable voting behavior is a "problem" that he or she has to address in the next (and all) exlections.
The key word is openly partisan. For as long as the person does not perport to be scientific or implementing an inquiry, there is no conflict, moral or otherwise.

Not anti-Christian, religous neutral more like.

I see. So if I say I think Harry Potter is too extreme for seven-year-olds, I am
equal to blood-thirsty, murdering, savage terrorists. I just wanted to get that straight.
And thanks for proving my point.

This BEFORE I read the thread and I'm sure there will be something to follow AFTER I read it.
Good post! Needs to be discussed.

I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting. Of course, you had to title it What is Wrong with Female Voters? - and there are plenty of good conservative women who vote just fine, thank you, including my wife. So maybe if you didn't generalize so much, you'd catch less flack.
