[history]
The six tribal elders negotiated the surrender of Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah and Haji Omar Khan, Konduz's pro-Taliban governor, after meeting in Konduz. The elders then traveled to Peshawar, Pakistan, and briefed reporters Sunday on the outcome of the meeting. U.S. airstrikes continued to bombard the area.

That is a stroke of genius! We get rid of the UN,too! Talk about a two-fer!!!

Hmmm, it seems to me that it's not the UN that is prosecuting the war.
So far, true. Giving these animals over to the UN (to live and fight another day) would be an open invitation for a repeat of Sept. 11. I trust our leaders know that. If not, they shouldn't be our leaders after the next election.

More good news from the HOLY MONTH of BOMB-adan. Of course, Islam is a Peaceful Religion -- also one that endorses boy-humping, woman-hating and is intolerant of any other religion. Remember September 11. LET'S ROLL!!!

I suppose once they have all killed themselves the "real Muslims" will be able to come out of hiding? Will they then at last denounce these people? Or will they continue to act like THEY TOO belong to a fanatical cult that condones lying, mutilation, slavery, rape and murder?

"willing to let the international body appoint a neutral caretaker and governor for Konduz." - 2 months ago this would have been a good deal
- 2 weeks ago this would have been tempting
- Today it's a joke!

Right you are, Kayak. THE HOLEY MONTH OF BOMB-ADON. But don't forget ISLAM IS A PEACEFUL RELIGION, one that endorses boy-buggering, woman hating and intolerance of any other religion. Why wouldn't we like these Rag-Heads?

Hey kayak...my mom told me the other day that while the idiot trying to catch his plane to MS was "unaware" of what was going on but the MEDIA was covering this non-stop, a man driving around Atlanta WITH A GAS MASK ON was pulled over...he had a lot of weapons in his car. Ever hear that story? I didn't. Guess the media decided not to report this...she didn't hear anymore about this, so I don't know if it was some person who was going to defend themselves or whether it was member of some fanatical terrorist cell. Amazing what the media DECIDES to report, isn't it?

I think Khofi Anan (sp?) and Mary Robinson should go there immediately to discuss details....while the bombing continues.

Hey, Taliban! You don't have the luxury of surrendering to the UN. They're not the ones knocking on your door..... we are. And we won't let you off the hook quite that easily. At this point, we don't very much care what the UN has to say. You're ours.
To: jokemoke
This isn't great news. They aren't even fighting the UN, but they know that the UN will let them get away scoot-free.

So sorry, Taleban. The UN has no word in this game.Just what I thought. This show is being run by one mad Texan and his very capable team. Don't mess with Texas.

I keep remembering the line in THE movie --
"With Major Lawrence, mercy is a passion. With me, it is merely good manners. You may judge which motive is the most reliable." I think it is likely that the Taliban know that it isn't Lawrence who is hot on their trails, but a lot of ill-mannered Afghani's who have suffered them long enough.
To: JohnHuang2
Note to Taliban: You are not surrounded by the U.N. You need to change the address on your message.
As far as those foreign Al Qaeda fighters go, I really suggest you ask the local Reuters correspondent about help with body bags. Reuters really concentrates on the body-bags issue, and probably knows where there are a bunch of them you can use for these guys.
