The six tribal elders negotiated the surrender of Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah and Haji Omar Khan, Konduz's pro-Taliban governor, after meeting in Konduz. The elders then traveled to Peshawar, Pakistan, and briefed reporters Sunday on the outcome of the meeting. U.S. airstrikes continued to bombard the area.

Around 60 Chechen fighters in the city drowned themselves in the Amu River, CNN has learned, while a Northern Alliance commander said 25 trapped Taliban fighters fatally shot one another when they saw opposition troops advancing toward them. LOL! I guess drowning or shooting themselves is an improvement over "running away like slaughtered chickens"...ROFLMAO!

Oh, this is SUCH an opportunity for someone to act like a real leader!

Hey, Taliban! You don't have the luxury of surrendering to the UN. They're not the ones knocking on your door..... we are. And we won't let you off the hook quite that easily. At this point, we don't very much care what the UN has to say.
You're ours.

Watch the Taliban groupies at Reuters portray this latest move by the Taliban as another stroke of genius -- just a strategic retreat, not a sign of defeat....yeah, right.

OOH! Gotta like that! They save us the time, trouble, and expense of loading them with shrapnel and ordinance. Thanks!

(Got a source for that one? I'd love to read the whole article.)

So sorry, Taleban. The UN has no word in this game. George Bush gave you an ultimatum several months ago. Those planes bombing you are the result of your failure to meet the terms of that ultimatum. They will continue bombing until you meet those terms or are anihilated. The latter is fine with me.

The best quote I've seen all week was the one where the Taliban guy said that Allah must be punishing them for something they did in the past! ROFL

So, do they still get the 72 virgins? They didn't technically die while killing the enemy... well their enemy, anyway.

Dadullah and Khan agreed to surrender their heavy weapons and all foreign fighters to the United Nations and said they were willing to let the international body appoint a neutral caretaker and governor for Konduz. The United Nations has not responded to the offer.

Hmmm, it seems to me that it's not the UN that is prosecuting the war.

They can turn over the City of Kanduz to the U.N. Providing the U.N. makes that city their Headquarters for life..

In that way the U.N. will be closer to the action and really get a feel for the culture in the area.

The city would be uplifted with all the 5 Star Hotels they could build for the Feckless legions of "Diplomats" who would frequent them.

OH! and by the way, They would have to give up the Bldg on the East side of New York City..

I got a sneaking feeling this will all be wrapped up with frontier style justice when Kofi makes it to work on Monday morning. They'd look sweet upon their feet on a gallows built for 38
