If you have to explain Monty Python it sort of loses its effect so on this one, you'll just have to miss the point.

"If you aren't one of us, you are stupid".
Nice try at using tu quoque. Notice you're doing the same thing here to discredit someone else that you say he does to discredit detractors of Harry Potter. If it's an invalid form of argument, then it's invalid for everyone. This is also possible: "Because you are stupid, you are not one of us." I've seen a far greater use of reasoned analysis in the "defenders" of the Harry Potter books than I've seen in their detractors.

Who cares? There's no such thing as witchcraft, and most kids know that. Ha. This coming from a person whose screen name means 'personification of wickedness and ungodliness'.... and btw, is one of the names for satan.

"I bet Buffy the Vampire Slayer gets your britches in a wad, too."
"Hey, its Friday! Tonight I get to watch Sabrina, The Teenage Witch!"
Both Buffy and Sabrina do somethin' to my britches. :)

Monkey Wards catalog If you allow your children to read that peice of trash you are a horrible parent and should be prevented from breeding. Don't you know that the pictures of women in their bras and panties are going to cause your children to become pornographers rivaling Larry Flynt when they grow up! They might even become rapists like Clinton!

Are you kidding? I think it'd be GREAT if kids could learn some witchcraft. The real deal. Then they could just wave their little magic wands, or wiggle their little noses (or whatever the trigger mechanism might be) to clean their rooms, mow the lawn, get the homework done etc.
Sorry, I fail to see a downside. And no, I didn't bother to read past the first couple of sentences in your out-of-touch, Amish-like rant. I *did*, however, load this entire thread OldStyle so that I could read all the funny replies I'm anticipating will be posted.
So, thanks for that at least.

However they just about demonize those that do, [same post] However, to say that Harry Potter is a pagan recruitment tool, the terms "fruitcake", "nut", and "screwball" are quite applicable. Uhhhhh......
suggest book bans (in a free country!),
I have yet to hear of a book ban involving Potter. As a matter of fact, you can find Potter EVERYWHERE.
Last time I checked the Bible, God pretty much leaves it up to us as to whether or not we read Harry Potter as long as we keep it in perspective -- a harmless fantasy.
I believe you better check again. The Bible says we are to avoid witchcraft. Potter may be harmless to adults but the marketing machine is aimed at children. It may not TEACH witchcraft but it makes it more acceptable to children rather like the "Heather Has Two Mommies" book makes homosexuality more acceptable to kids. Since I believe witchcraft is bad, I resent that marketing push just as I resent the Environmental push at kids.

So then why do kids at Hogwart's get Christmas holidays, eh?

Instead of wasting our energy on namecalling and posting clever pictures, why don't we try to find out the 'truth' regarding J.K. Rowling (her background, what she has done before harry potter) and the many, far too many coincidences regarding the author's choice of spell words and images. Not one of you has addressed this yet, even though there are over 220 posts so far!

Belial "...is one of the names for satan."
"incindiary" could be seen to have 'infernal' associations also, you humorless git!
To: aruanan
I guess if calling people "fruitcakes" and "nuts" is considered "reasoned", you might be right.

Ever hear any of the "Harry Potter is EVIL!" callers on Agar?
To: Captainpaintball
gee while we are at...perhaps someone could address the fact that Harry Potter spelled backwards is Rettop Yrrah.
This is an old Armaic saying that means "He who walks with Satan, limps with Satan."
To: aruanan
Is this that "reasoned analysis" you were referring to?

I joined Free Republic during the Election Fiasco last year & I was pretty frustrated about what was happening so I joined FreeRepublic & started Raising Hell about what I was seeing in the state of Florida. Now your taking pot shots at me & don't know anything about me other than the Fiction that you unfairly label me with. I am a good person, but quite frankly I don't care what you think about me. As for you & the other Extreme people here on this subject, I would have to label ya'll as Religious Fanatics Just like that fruitcake Osama Bin Laden. Also you remember that you (Mr. So called Christian) was the one that started & resorted to name calling Mr. Pork & Beans.

BTW...isn't "heathen jew" an oxymoron?
Don't know. Jesus was one. You tell me.
