Neil Young sings IMAGINE at Hollywood show for victims
Fox News | 9-21-01 | None

This morning on Fox News, they ended a segment with a clip of Neil Young, in his old cowboy hat, singing IMAGINE. This was at last nite's show in Hollywood to presumably benefit the families of the victims of the act of war in New York.

I think what irks people is that there could have been other, more appropriate, songs sung. After all, would you expect to hear "God Bless America" at a peace rally? I don't care who was singing it, "Imagine" was inappropriate...not only do I hate the song to begin with, but it doesn't inspire inspiration or hope.

"If this is true, then people should get their money back and send it to another organization"

I've been waiting for someone to post a link to prove that it is true, but nobody has yet. I think it's another one of those rumors flying around on freerepublic.com.

If this really is the case maybe word should be spread to those who may have donated. Especially since you know everyone thought they were donating to help those in NYC. It's false advertising to have a telethon to benefit victims and their families, then turn it around to support other causes.

Imagine Pi is 3,
And no decimals to fight.
Imagine winter ease,
If water would only freeze,
At zero degrees Fahrenheit.

Imagine!

I'm sure you can,
If you try hard enough,
And Congress lent a hand
To pass a Law and take a stand
Calling Mother Nature's bluff.

Explain to me this: whats the difference with Julia Roberts and her vicious mouthings about "W". And the Zillion posts on the FR about everyone D?
Nothing.

I think the person who alerted us to that story may have thought that the two different fundraisers were the same thing. The article states that Joan Rivers pulled out of a song earmarking donations to the United Way and racism organizations.

Learn how to read lyrics.

Learn how to think logically.

"That song is not about peace. It is about the marxist revolution and the creation of the new communist man"

Hmmmm...I have absolutely NO IDEA how you come to the conclusion the song is about the marxist revolution and the new communist man. Are you kidding and this is a joke? Here are the lyrics. Please show me how you come up with that analysis. Thanks.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I just read a little further. Disregard my last post then. Guess I should read the whole thread when I post from now on.

So how was that song advertised? I think it is important that when people donate they know exactly where their money is going!!!

Oh, I can think logically.

Still waiting for the link showing that the money raised in this fundraiser is really going to the liberal causes.

Well? What's taking so long?

I agree this was THE low point of the show, which had a lot of low points.

I used to live in Midland, Texas. It's in what's called the Permian Basin. No hills, no rivers, no lakes. minimal topographical difference.

In both cases....you can't tell the low points from the high ones.

Sharing all the world...

...and this does not strike you as Communist? Hmmm.
Never mind what I said to you above; it is impossible for you to think logically.

Those four words make you believe this song is about Marxist and communism? And you have the nerve to TELL ME TO THINK LOGICALLY? LMAO!

"I am confident the distribution of the money raised will be monitored and questioned..."

I am sure it will be. However, when all is said and done, the money will go to the liberal, leftist causes that the hollywierd crowd supports.

You know it, and so do I.

Tom Petty sang probably the most appropriate song all night!

My wife told me some loser in a beat-up cowboy hat sang Imagine, but she didn't know who it was. I decided after that the evening would be full of this kind of crap so I went and did something constructive- I played Mechwarrior3. (LOL)

Lennon was against war and was for peace in the world

Lennon had a burnt crumpet for a brain, courtesy of all the drugs he took. He was also an anti-religious, self-righteous fool whose great "peace" meisterwerk comprised the asinine drone "All we are s-a-a-a-a-y-y-y-y-i-n-n-n-g-g-g is give peace a chance" repeated endlessly to flashing peace signs and dope-dream grins.

The only thing Lennon knew about peace was how to indugle his pathetic little appetites in it. He didn't know the first thing about how peace is created and maintained. Better men--anonymous and unsung men--fought and died to achieve that end.

And in his early years, Lennon wrote several decent and memorable rock and roll and pop songs.
