In December of 1999, my two sisters and I took a "girls only" trip to New York City. We left our hubbies and kids home and took the "trip of a lifetime"! We shopped lots and went sightseeing, of course.

One particular day, we took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Then we took the tour of the World Trade Center. For a simple country girl from Oklahoma, it was nothing short of remarkable! We had a coke in Windows on the World, visited the gift shops (those tourists you laughed at!), and walked around the promenade on the roof(even though it was freezing cold!). I was stunned by the height of it! We were above the clouds! You could look DOWN and see airplanes! and helicopters! just flying around BELOW you, as you stood up there!

I think when those two buildings fell, aside (of course) from all the lives lost, the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that no one would experience that wonderful feeling of standing in the clouds again.

The 4th Infantry undertook Operation Red Dawn to find Saddam.
They are based in Texas - Fort Hood.

They got their man - captured Saddam. "Don't mess with Texas!":

Thanks Meek! In this critical election year, as many people as possible need to be reminded about, maybe by re-living, 9/11/01. Too many people have forgotten why we must take this fight to the enemy, and simply cannot afford to have a President who will merely respond to terrorists instead of taking it to them, like GWB has done and will continue to do.

Chilling. I was watching too, and my 14 yr old son watching with me. It was a turning point in his life, as far as paying attention to what is happening in the world. And the day he likely bacame a lifelong conservative.
