A total of 29% of Americans say they approve of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president and 68% say they disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job according to the latest survey from the American Research Group.
When it comes to Trump's handling of the economy, 26% of Americans approve and 71% disapprove. In August, 28% of Americans approved of the way Trump was handling the economy and 69% disapproved.

That said, I don’t expect any President, regardless of party going forward to get above 40% approval.
ARG is a pretty low rated and inconsistent polling group.
Polls are meaningless. The Wisconsin governor primary poll was off by 20 percentage points. Why should we believe them? My feeling is that Trump’s true approval is around 45%, which isn’t bad, but he has work to do. Declaring victory in Iran and the subsequent drop in gas prices should help a lot.

Also, the two week Iran war is still underway with no end in sight, tariffs have raised prices while the national debt has exploded and the price of gas is economically threatening the country.
