The weather is warming up, which, for many parts of the country, means tick season is settling in. Unfortunately, we’re off to a less-than-ideal start this year.
Emergency department visits for tick bites have reached the highest rate in nearly 10 years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced last week.
So far this month, 96 out of every 100,000 emergency department visits in the U.S. have been for tick bites. That’s roughly three times as many as were recorded in March, and well over the 68 out of 100,000 recorded in April 2025.

Early diagnosis and antibiotic treatment of tick bite diseases like lyme disease, typically with doxycycline, are crucial to prevent severe complications, including neurological, cardiac, or joint issues.
Maybe people fearing Lyme disease? It can be a devastating illness and it’s common up there.
Bill Gates is into tick research. Tick bites can cause red meat allergies. Bill Gates is pushing for lab grown meat. Do the math.
Obamacare (Medicade) compels them to visit the ER for everything that might give them a runny nose.
I get that but, I don’t think I know anyone that’s gone to the ER. Maybe their primary.
And now they have that one spreading a serious meat allergy.
The creeps bioengineered it.
Alpha Gal syndrome is bio engineered to make a large part of the population allergic to meat.
You can call me a conspiracy theorist, but that is what I believe. The ticks are a delivery system and there are bugnut crazy lefties that want to release more into the wild to infect more people.
Medicaid was around decades before Obama came on the scene. It was part of the 1965 Social Security Act Amendments.
I had to get doxycycline last year for a tick bite, but I just happened to be seeing my doctor 4 days after I found it, so I didn’t need to make any appointments.
Also, mine was an eastern brown (dog) tick, not a deer tick which carry lymes disease, but you never know what else they might be carrying.
I think you are right. The earlier you get the antibiotics, the better. No reason to gamble with Lymes disease if you can avoid it.
Just pull ‘em out, get the head and some alcohol.
I think you can get Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from dog ticks.
Lyme ticks are likely to be pumping parasites into you at the same time. Don’t forget the Ivermectin.
Stress from student loans due and TDS.
Lots of ticks up here in my part of New England this year.
I got my Doxycycline 200mg. 180 tablets for $47. We keep that and a few others in supply. (India)
Any Bible wonks here to explain to me the reasons God created a tick? Useless creatures.
Me. I got bit three weeks ago. I went to Urgent Care, not ER. Got a single-dose broad spectrum antibiotic.
Quick treatment is absolutely essential. You simply cannot afford the time to book a visit with your doc a week or two in the future.
Fortunately, Lyme Disease is extremely rare here in Northern California. The doc told me that most Lyme Disease cases here are people returning from the Northeast who bring one of those buggers home with them.
Tick bites are SO gross. Seeing that thing burrowing into your body just grosses you out.
If you ever find one on you, get to Urgent Care or the ER post haste.
I really hate ticks, even though I’ve had fewer than half a dozen bites in my life. I used to work with a guy who was a tick magnet. Ten or a dozen people would work on some project in the woods, and Brian would pick up 20 ticks while the rest of the crew might have one or two among all of us.
With any luck, Brian was also a chick magnet and had them nibbling on his neck and ears all the time, too.
