Across the United States, Islamic arbitration bodies quietly handle hundreds of family law cases each year — marriage, divorce, custody, inheritance — behind closed doors, with no transcripts, no appeals and no public oversight. All-male panels apply traditional Shariah rules to 21st-century American women and children.
The Islamic Tribunal of Dallas was founded in 2014 as a “volunteer mediation service.” By 2024, it was deciding roughly 300 cases annually in mosque back rooms and law offices. The panel of three or four male scholars, trained at institutions such as Al-Azhar and Omdurman, openly follows rules in which a woman’s testimony is worth half a man’s in financial and inheritance matters. Women report being pressured to accept religious divorces that strip them of their mahr (dowry) and leave them financially devastated.
Last month, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott launched a full investigation, calling it a “rival court system” that has no place in America. It was the first time a prominent U.S. official said publicly what critics had warned about for years.
The North American Islamic Trust owns title to 300 to 325 U.S. mosques, more than 11% of the U.S. total. When disputes arise inside those mosques — divorces, estates, leadership fights — local trust-affiliated imams become the de facto judges. There is no signed arbitration agreement, no neutral venue, no American lawyer reviewing decisions for compliance with U.S. law.

Considering a lot of rulings from our courts lately, bad as they are they might be an improvement.
Technically Americans but Muslims in spirit. The American spirit is devoid in them.
Moslems are in America to convert or kill us and impose Sharia Law throughout Amercia!
Not that it’s not troublig being it’s muslims but orthodox Jewish tribunals especially in Brooklyn have long been recognized by NYS in matters of marriage, divorce, custory and inheritance
Remember men, if you are sick and tired of dealing with “uppity” women who keep demanding that men kowtow to them, sharia may just be the answer. And the best part....those uppity women SUPPORT muslims! Will Wonders never cease.

I suspect that those weirdos will go along, at least at first. After all, Muslims are at the top of the pyramid. They can do whatever they want.
Any excesses will be explained by “cultural differences”.
Religious arbitration “courts” are nothing new - or sinister. There are also rabbinical tribunals. If all involved stipulate to this and the application of religious law, I have no problem with it.
The issue arises when a party to these proceedings wishes to confirm and enforce an award from these court. These motions are filed in the civil courts. Awards from the religious courts will only be enforced if the award comports with our secular civil laws.
In Israel, the rabbinical and Islamic courts exist side by side with the civil courts in family law and probate matters. They seem to have no problem with this arrangement.
I am a professional arbitrator and a former jurist. I don’t recall ever seeing one these cases, so if they exist in any numbers, the parties have not sought our civil courts to enforce them.
In many states Sharia Courts receive the statutory approval of “arbitration” courts in order to have legal disputes “settled” , the original intention to lessen the work loads on the court system.
These statutes are used by Sharia Law Muslims to form arbitration tribunals which have a quasi legal jurisdiction in which the terms of the arbitration process are set by those who participate. The entore Sharia process of law is then applied, with no state or federal constitutional protections. People who submit to these Sharia law tribunals are subject to having the stet civil system of enforcement, seizure and forfeiture of goods , garnishment, etc against them.
Its actually a travesty and pretty much an Unconstitutional violation of due process,as well as a violation of civil rights suffered by the negatively effected.
Muslims brag that they are using the freedoms in our Constitution and country to conquer us.
Islam is not a religion and shouldn’t be treated as such. Islam is a political ideology of domination and shouldn’t be allowed in our courts or in our Congressional leaders. We shouldn’t have ever repealed the law which prevented them from serving in Congress.

No, of course not.That would be criminal law punishment. The penalties are civil penalties in nature, and blood money is paid.
The beating and chopping happen as thuggish extortion in most communities , supplied by the ecclesiastical police centered in various mosques. No one ever hears about it, its criminal conduct.

Yes, but under Shariah law, the parties are not equal. Women & children are at a major disadvantage because of how they’re seen under Islam. Shariah law should not be allowed in any way, shape or form in this country. If you want to live under Islam, go someplace else!
