Missouri anti-LGBTQ+ laws linked to population loss and decline in tax revenue, studies find

For years, Missouri lawmakers have heard warnings that enacting policies targeting the LGBTQ+ population could drive individuals and businesses out of the state. Local officials and chambers of commerce raised red flags about potential impacts on recruitment and retention of employees, as well as the ability to lure businesses to the state.
Now, studies are showing that the state’s actions have already pushed LGBTQ+ Missourians to move — taking their tax dollars, and even businesses, elsewhere.
Analysis by the Movement Advancement Project estimates that around $362 million to $879 million in household income has left the state, a number that is expected to increase.
The estimate is based on a survey conducted by MAP in collaboration with The Trevor Project, a mental health nonprofit for LGBTQ+ youth.

Highly doubtful. Most so-called "Auntie LGBTQ" legislation in Missouri happened in the past couple of years at earliest, and there's no way these resultant changes can be assessed to any credible degree in that small window of time. COVID lockdowns were most likely the culprit for any economic contraction.
Besides, the Trevor Project has about as much veracity as the National Enquirer.

They had so many LGBTQ+s that it affected their state’s tax base?
Well, that’s a lot of HIV+ patients to not care for.
Good for Missouri!

Sounds like Missouri if a good place to move to.

As a MO resident, I can’t say I’m sorry to see them leave. I have no idea of what anti-alphabet laws have been passed, other than removing them from extra-special protection. As for revenue loss, how much money is saved from not having to treat the illnesses they seem to be prone to.?
Anyway, I’m sure they’ll find a welcome in Illinois. Illinois can have them all.

Even if true it’s a net win for Missouri.

The anecdotal homosexual restaurant owner they mentioned in the article moved to Ore-Gone. Yeah, his business will thrive there.

Now, studies are showing that the state’s actions have already pushed LGBTQ+ Missourians to move — taking their tax dollars, and even businesses, elsewhere. I'd like to see those studies. It doesn't fit my understanding of LGBTQ+ demographics, particularly in a conservative State like Missouri. One would think they would have left a long time ago.
