Radical Abortion Activist Nancy Pelosi Will Finally Leave Congress
Life News ^ | November 6, 2025 | Steven Ertelt

Longtime Democrat Congressman Nancy Pelosi, a fierce proponent of abortion whose unyielding support for killing babies has drawn sharp rebukes from Catholic leaders, is poised to retire from Congress at the end of her current term.

The 85-year-old California lawmaker, who has represented San Francisco since 1987, has finally announced she is stepping down.

In a CNN interview aired Monday, Pelosi emphasized her drive to reclaim House control for Democrats, saying, “For me, it’s just a question about one thing: winning the House for the Democrats, and that’s what we’re doing with Proposition 50. It’s the first step.”

She added, “And the only reason I’m in Congress this term is to win the House for the Democrats, to protect us from the poison of the Trump administration.”

For pro-life advocates, Pelosi’s potential exit represents a long-awaited shift in a chamber where she wielded immense influence to advance abortion-on-demand policies.

As House speaker from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023, she steered through landmark legislation, including the Affordable Care Act, which expanded taxpayer funding for abortion despite fierce opposition from faith-based groups.

Her pro-abortion record has long clashed with her Catholic faith, drawing condemnation from church officials.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone barred her from receiving Holy Communion in 2022, citing her “persistent advocacy for abortion.”

Pelosi dismissed the rebuke, stating, “I received Communion anyway. That’s his problem, not mine. My Catholic faith is, Christ is my savior. It has nothing to do with the bishops.”

The decision to send her as a U.S. delegate to Pope Francis’ funeral in April further inflamed tensions, with critics arguing it rewarded a politician whose views they see as antithetical to core Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life.

Pelosi’s departure from leadership came in late 2022 after Republicans reclaimed the House majority, but she clung to her seat through another reelection bid in 2024. At the time, she brushed aside retirement talk, announcing her candidacy on X with a vow to continue fighting for progressive priorities, including abortion.

Yet, as speculation mounted this fall, challengers began circling her district, including state Sen. Scott Wiener, who launched his bid last month amid reports of her imminent exit.

The timing aligns with California’s Proposition 50 vote Tuesday, a Democratic-backed measure to redraw congressional maps in ways that could bolster the party’s hold on seats like Pelosi’s.

Analysts say her retirement clears the path for younger Democrats.

This is true story. You all I have been gone all day, just got in. I was over at a friend's house help care for a man with Down Syndrome. The friend had on talk radio and news came on about Pelosi.

The local news made it sound like she had died! Yes for several hours I thought she was actually dead.

What do you all think of that?

My hope is that she leaves congress in a box. No need to keep us waiting.

First off kudos to you for helping care give.

Nancy Pelosi has FIVE children. Most women - conservative, prolife, homemaker or otherwise can say that…nor have desired it necessarily...

THAT has always struck me.

I think this descriptive of her can apply to pretty much the entire dim party. Her replacement will no doubt have similar abortion views. Any dim who is pro life faces a quick purge and that has been going on for a while now.

The Congress can cede most of the lower-income Democratic areas of California and the southern tip of Texas back to Mexico by majority vote.

Map B: map of Mexico & the United States in the second half of 2026 if Map A is not adopted

She’s already dead.

She’s kept going with a steady diet of formaldehyde, beige paint and skin staples.

Every morning she starts her routine with electroshocks to start the heart up again, followed by one hour of stretching to overcome rigor mortis.

“Sharp rebukes” mean nothing. Zero. A succession of popes had the power to excommunicate Pelosi, and so draw a line in the sand.

But none of them did. Makes you wonder what their priorities were.

Diane Fienstien stayed on until she was dead. They actually wheeled her barely conscious body into the Senate for a vote. She died that very day.

Any dim who is pro life faces a quick purge and that has been going on for a while now.

One dim I voted for was Bob Casey Sr., who was a pro-life governor of PA. He beat a pro-abortion republican Bill Scranton. Don't confuse Bob Casey Sr. with his pathetic pro-abortion son. The national democrat party essentially treated Casey Sr. as a pariah. Finding a pro-life democrat today is as rare as hen's teeth.

But none of them did. Makes you wonder what their priorities were.

The Vatican has made or is making a "prayer room" for Muslims. That should tell us something about what the Catholic church believes. Past Pope's who sanctioned and blessed Christians to fight Muslims are rolling in their graves.

Too many so-called Christian churches have compromised the gospel. They are the luke-warm that Jesus spoke of. Why wasn't the following applied to Pelosi and others like her who claim to be Christians?

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector." - Matt. 18:15-17

The only answer I can come up with is that church leaders (Bishops, Pastors) are compromised - are lukewarm.

I looked him up. From 1987 to 95 as governor so 30 + years ago. Yeah things have changed a bit since then.

Yes, but I think she and her husband could easily afford the necessary staff to help raising them.

I would have loved to have had many children…

I would guess that Trump’s new ballroom will done before Nancy actually does retire. I think there should be a ballroom dance in Nancy’s honor. I think “The Hammer Dance” would be an appropriate name. Everyone bring a hammer for Nancy!

THAT has always struck me.

It shouldn't.

Most liberals practice the exact opposite of what they preach.

They often advocate for childfree independence, abortions, living in diverse communities, public schools, etc. while themselves enjoying long, fruitful marriages, having children of their own (with people who look like them), live in gated communities (with people who look like them), and send their children to expensive private schools (with other kids who look like their kids).
