It was a long shot for Republican Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, and now it’s over. Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) has won the gubernatorial race, ending a contest that’s been riddled with drama. Sears had opportunities to turn things around. A white elderly Democrat carried a sign that was primarily seen as racist when Sears spoke out at an Arlington School Board meeting regarding the story of Richard Cox, a sex offender, who camped out at a high school girls’ locker room, claiming to be transgender. Spanberger’s answer to this question was also a trainwreck.
Truth be told, Abby is a bad candidate. Spanberger also said she wouldn’t work with President Trump to increase economic opportunity in the state. She’s the typical brain-dead, woke candidate who only caters to the niche, the illiberal, and the unspooled. And Northern Virginia is packed full of these crazies.
Yet the flip side is that Sears wasn’t a good candidate either. If this were a football game, it would be an epic matchup between two 4-6 teams.
The government shutdown might not have helped either, as federal workers dot crucial areas—and they’re all anti-Trump, furloughed, and angry.
Ghazala Hashmi won the state's lieutenant governor race as well.

VA is obviously racist...
The rep was a bad candidate. Simple as that.
It’s because the GOP won’t rally behind black state-wide candidates. Throw in the racist rats and Sears had no chance. It would have been wonderful. I would have sent $100 AFTER she had won but I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. Why waste good money? I certainly got hit up for it early and often.
It would help if the GOP could come up with formidable candidates.

Riffed, furloughed, laid-off, s#itcanned, DOGEd bureaucrats who live in VA and worked in DC could not wait to vote for her and against Trump/Republicans.
We’ll never know if they did indeed vote for it without an audit.

On the bright side, I won’t be receiving 3-4 text messages a day from the Winsome Sears campaign asking for donations.
That's disturbing, self-defeating, and a horrible long term strategy. I pray this won't be the case in Florida should Byron Donalds be the nominee...
That being said. Byron has been boldly MAGA, at great cost to himself I'm sure on many fronts - both right and left, personal and public. Prayers for him...LORD, please surround him with angels and the best team on the ground possible. Please continue to keep Florida safely in the red AT LEAST!
Winsome Sears has always been tepid about Trump. And from the bit I watched of her on the campaign trail, she was lacking fire and vision.

VA has never voted in a governor that is in the same party as the current president at the time.
