MSNBC's "Morning Joe" panel did not circle the wagons around Democratic candidate for Virginia Attorney General, Jay Jones, who was reported this weekend to have texted some extremely violent things about killing a GOP colleague.
"He should probably be forced to withdraw from the race," Joe Scarborough said. "And 'probably' is doing a lot there."
"Republicans and Democrats alike" are criticizing Jay Jones, Mike Brzezinski said. "NBC News is reporting that Jones did not deny the accuracy of these texts on Friday night, and says he takes full responsibility for his actions."
"Horrible, I didn’t want to read them out loud."
"Congresswoman Spanberger, the gubernatorial candidate, did very quickly denounce them," Jonathan Lemire added. "But it’s unclear whether this attorney general candidate will stay in the race. I think there’s a growing sense that he probably should not... This is just way beyond the line."
"Who says that!?" Brzezinski added.
"I think the pressure is going to be on Spanberger — and for the whole party — to ask this candidate to just quit the race," John Heilemann said. "It’s the right thing. And also the political splashback, you don’t want to mess with this right now. This guy should do everyone a favor and step out of that race."

All he does is say what they all really think.
Why are his vile and hateful statements surprising? After all, he is a DEMOCRAT.
When I’ve seen this guy on TV, there’s something a little creepy about him.
He doesn’t strike me as someone who has the good judgment necessary to an AG.
Exactly, however, he was incredibly stupid enough to post it publicly.
Yep, he’s not supposed to spill their secrets.

A lawyer once told me..Never send a letter, email or text that you wouldn’t want to be read to a jury.
I always heard the same thing about your correspondence winding up published in a newspaper.
Sure hope he doesn’t quit.
True.
Apparently they are scurrying under the baseboards to look for cover as not everyone agrees with their violent incitements these days. Nearly all the Dems but not all independents. Listen to the young people in the mobs spewing threats and taunts at the ICE agents as in Portland and Illinois outside of Chicago. Would make an aspiring rapper blush. Maybe.
He fully represents the nearly half of the American voters.
What do they think happens if Mamdani and this Jones guy types take over DC next year?
What if the conservative guy on Fox News met him halfway and they ran on a ticket for President and Vice President?
It would be Johnny Joey Jones-Jay Jones on the campaign posters.
Maybe Join Johnny Joey Jones-Jay Jones’ Joint Journey.
As a mainstream democrat, he was just trying to energize the base!
There is a pendulum and it really does swing.
Fantastic !
He’s the Albatross around Spamburger’s neck... he wants to stay... part of my logic is never interfere when the leftists are making a mistake. Should we chance it?
No, he stated it privately. That’s arguably worse, in some ways. He was trying to persuade a Republican that this is a good idea.
And that’s now the leftist talking point “argument”, that this was a private conversation. It is axiomatic that the shameless have no shame.
It is clear he has no business in government at any level, much less Attorney General of the great state of Virginia. I think of the great men of history that state produced over the years … and then this guy. Jeeze Louise.
