The FBI is ending its partnership with the left-wing Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Director Kash Patel announced on Wednesday. The move comes after the organization got busted labeling Turning Point USA as an “extremist” group.
“James Comey disgraced the FBI by writing ‘love letters’ to the ADL and embedding agents with an extreme group functioning like a terrorist organization and the disgraceful operation they ran spying on Americans. That was not law enforcement, it was activism dressed up as counterterrorism, and it put Americans in danger,” Patel said in a statement. “That era is finished. This FBI formally rejects Comey’s policies and any partnership with the ADL.”
As John Lott Jr. recently noted in these pages, the ADL — a self-professed “anti-hate organization” — regularly mislabels left-wing violence as “right-wing,” while at the same time downplaying (or outright ignoring) real leftist violence.
Despite these reported issues, Comey had no problem heaping praise on the ADL and its partnership with the FBI under his tenure. According to Fox News, the recently indicted former director spoke at the ADL’s National Leadership Summit in May 2017, during which he “declared his and the FBI’s ‘love’ for the organization.”
“We are not only educating ourselves, we are working with the ADL to build bridges in the communities we serve,” Comey reportedly said. “For more than 100 years, you have advocated for fairness and equality … And for all of that, we are grateful. As a law enforcement and national security agency, yes. But also as Americans. As humans.”
The ADL has faced extensive backlash in recent days after the group got caught classifying TPUSA — the organization founded by recently assassinated conservative thought leader Charlie Kirk — as an “extremist” group. Per Fox News, “TPUSA’s backgrounder page on the ADL website falls under the ‘Center of Extremism’ tag and describes the conservative group as having ties to ‘a range of right-wing extremists and has generated support from anti-Muslim bigots, alt-lite activists and some corners of the white supremacist alt-right.'”
In response to public blowback, the ADL took down its “Glossary of Extremism and Hate” on Tuesday, acknowledging in a statement that “an increasing number of entries in the Glossary were outdated” and that it “saw a number of entries intentionally misrepresented and misused.”
“At ADL, we always are looking for how we can and should do things better. That’s why we are moving to retire the Glossary effectively immediately,” the ADL wrote on X. “This will allow ADL to explore new strategies and creative approaches to deliver our data and present our research more effectively.”
In a related matter I hope Tina Peters can get out of jail. The prosecution of anyone who questioned the election is beyond the pale.
Turning Point should sue their asses off
HOORAY Kash, President Trump and the great individuals working at the F.B.I.
The ADL has pressured Wikipedia to delete ‘Early Life’ sections, arguing it is anti-semitic.
ADL. (American Dumbass Liberals).
So the ADL is an exclusively pro-Muslim group?
We gave her money, but it seems justice is a slow thing.
Pronto!
Another taxpayer-funded agitprop fake group to support Democrats.
No telling how many millions were funneled into this.
Should yank the tax-exempt status as well.
ADL is a self-serving - self-described “anti-hate organization”
<><>ADL regularly mislabels left-wing violence as “right-wing,”
<><>ADL downplays (and outright ignores) real leftist violence.
<><>ADL maliciously defamed The Federalist @FDRLST in 2022
<><>ADL tagged them as “hateful, extreme, or terrorist” for accurate reporting
<><>The Federalist cited questionable votes were cast in Georgia in 2020
<><>that revelation triggered a new election under state law.
<><>ADL is unable to refute the indisputable facts T/F report,
<><>then engages in deliberately dishonest sleight of hand to smear T/F further.
<><>ADL is an unreliable, dishonest, left-wing hate group no one should take seriously.
The Comey, Obama, Holder, Lynch and possible even Wray era (I don’t see Wray as being a strong leader and just perpetuating things), destroyed the last little bit of credibility the FBI had.
The FBI has always been brought into the political fray, since their inception:
https://www.nytimes.com/1975/12/08/archives/presidents-and-the-fbi.html
https://www.nytimes.com/1977/05/26/archives/spying-is-spying-is-spying-is-spying.html
And back then the NTYs was actually a world class and investigative paper.
For a politician, being charge of organizations like the FBI and with their power, it’s a lot like Lord of the Rings and the “precious.” It’s just too tempting and in the human mind you can rationalize anything. So admit after administration use the FBI to spy on their political opponent, to suppress grass roots movements (J6), to harass and intimidate people. In the early 70s just like after J6 the FBI intimidated anti-war protestors, knocking on doors and basically giving veiled threats.
The only way your going to fix this, is by reorganizing things.
You can’t have the FBIs head be a political appointment and report to the same man. Expecting neutrality is a far stretch if you think mere professionalism will prevent such.
ADL has always been a shakedown organization.
Pay us money or we will call you anti semites
Why were they “partners” in the first place?
Michael Savage years ago told the story about how he went to the ADL for legal help/advice when he was banned from Britain for speaking up about their muslim invasion, and he said they told him to either cough up a lot of money or take a hike.
JDL: very biased in identifying right- versus left-wing extremist groups.
Just about every right-of-center group was suspect and many, like Turning Point, were labelled as terrorist.
In contrast, JDL excused or outright denied most political violence conducted by the left.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is even worse.
Relying on these highly biased sources, aggregators misrepresent the amount of left- versus right-wing violence. Except, with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the bias has become obvious.
According to the left, under the theory of “micro-aggression,” you are guilty of violence if they think you’re thinking bad thoughts.
But, if there’s assault, arson, bombs going off and gun shots at a left-wing event, it’s “mostly peaceful.”
As a President, part of the cabinet, or director of the FBI (who is politically appointed), the powers we give this organization, which are to spy on Americans (that’s what it boils down to), are to great to ignore.
Probably every administration since their inception has abused their powers for the administrations or one political party’s advantage. Just some get caught. Some are more brazen and take things further. But they ALL do it to some degree.
The only way to fix this problem is to make the FBI less political in nature, to change how the person in charge is nominated and selected, and who he reports to. That simple. Anything less, and they’ll just keep doing it in secrecy, slap different labels on things, whatever...
Comey was simply a disgusting example of where it was obvious and taken really far. Trump, thick skinned and with a huge mouth, a billionaire, with the ability to legally fight back, savvy with the media, wasn’t going to get flushed that easily. But think about how many people, not breaking the law, were destroyed by a jerk like Comey who went after them because they belonged to the wrong party, example: General Flynn.
For some reason, Jews and most of their organizations, are affiliated with the Democrats.
Don’t ask for an explanation. I can only provide some jibberish but no real logical explanation.
They basically back people that when in power are not their allies, may it be Israel, Muslim mass immigration, etc. and that has been true ever since B. Clinton.
“questionable votes”
Do FReepers, and fdriends, realize how this looks to logical people? Tedious work on the ground was needed to turn “questionable” into facts, evidence, proof. But our side was lazy.
Of course this is separate from ties between FBI and ADL.
