Trump asks the Supreme Court to let him fire Federal Reserve board member Lisa Cook

President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to allow him to fire Federal Reserve board member Lisa Cook, setting up a test of the president’s ability to take control of the powerful interest-rate setting body.

The Justice Department on Thursday asked the high court to reverse the decisions of two lower courts that allowed Cook to remain in her position while the broader legal fight is underway. Their decisions enabled Cook to participate in a meeting this week that resulted in a quarter-point reduction in the interest rate.

Trump’s incursion on the Federal Reserve is the culmination of his bid to assume control of all facets of the executive branch, even those intended to be insulated from political pressure or control. The Supreme Court has repeatedly blessed Trump’s efforts to fire the heads of independent agencies and boards, though justices have signaled they view the Federal Reserve as a unique “quasi-private” institution.

Now THIS will be an interesting one Freepers. Do the Supremes side with the Banksters who are all mighty and powerful (and the FED) or not?

I Strongly suspect they will side with the banksters and "independence". Watch them close ranks. Happy to be proven wrong.

I’d like to know from where in the Constitution did a previous Congress derive the authority to create a fully independent agency that is beyond the supervision of the branch of government which exists to administrate and to supervise.

He’s not asking them to let him fire her.

He’s telling them there is no merit to the idea that he can’t.

The Executive Branch doesn’t have to check in with the Judiciary on every single thing they do.

the Federal Reserve is a domestic enemy of the USA. They have destroyed the USA currency with its actions since its inception.

POTUS Trump, I beg you to declare war on these scoundrels who are at war with USA citizens regarding the wealth of this great land.

I think since a past president signed off on it, how can his agreement to delegate of presidential powers to a bunch of bankers constrain future presidents from exercising them?

Agree. A former Congress cannot legislate away constitutional authorities of future Congresses and presidents. It it could, Trump and the current Congress could legislate away the authority to tax private Americans and American businesses.

I’m sure she is guilty and deserves to be fired, but my only issue is she is still at the accused state and has not been found guilty. Once guilty, yes fire her and be done with it, but only at accused (when not for a violent crime or child abuse where she is a danger), I think she should be suspended now, but wait until guilty to actually be fired. When things turn, do we want conservatives fired for just an accused of something?

I suspect Trump will win.

IIRC, the 2-1 majority appeals court based their nonsense on inadequate due process, as if Lisa Cook had a property interest in her federal job.

That won’t fly with Scotus.

I believe the Fed owners' position in deep background is that they have an unbreakable contract with the US gubmint in exchange for their having long ago kept that gubmint out of the disaster of a complete bankruptcy.

They continue to skim the interest off the top and we schmucky taxpayers are not about to be let off their hook.

Now as a major component of the Deep State, the owners are ready to expend an incredible amount of capital (preferably US taxpayers money) to overturn every decision the PDJT administration is preparing to make.

As the coup de grace, they intend to directly rule the US (then world) henceforth after thir great reset is in place.
