Gruesome video shows a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee getting stabbed to death on a Charlotte light rail train – a case that has turned into a flashpoint as the Trump administration vows to crack down on crime in large, predominantly Democratic cities.
The attack happened shortly before 10 p.m. August 22, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. A caller said a woman was stabbed in the throat.
The victim, Iryna Zarutska, is a refugee who recently fled from war-torn Ukraine, CNN affiliate WBTV reported.
Video of the attack shows Zarutska entering a train car and taking a seat directly in front of the suspect, court documents state.
“The train travels for approximately four and half minutes before the suspect pulls knife from his pocket, unfolds the knife, pauses, then stands up, and strikes at the victim three times,” a police detective wrote in an affidavit.
“Blood visibly drips on the floor as the defendant walks away from the victim. The victim goes unresponsive shortly after the attack. The defendant is the assailant on the video. There appears to be no interaction between the victim and defendant,” the affidavit states.
The suspect, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a laceration and charged with first-degree murder.
A judge has ordered Brown to be evaluated for 60 days in a local hospital. CNN is trying to reach his attorney for comment.
Brown has 14 previous court cases in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, WCNC reported. He was sentenced to six years in prison for robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering and larceny in Mecklenburg County in 2015, WCNC said.

Looks like this story is FINALLY gaining some traction with the Enemy Media.
Long past time to reopen the mental health hospitals closed in the 1970s. When closed and the crazies dumped on the streets, killings by crazies took off like a rocket.
Execution isn’t “punishment”.
Execution is the complete and permanent removal of a voilent individual from society to protect society and ensure the violent individual can NEVER harm society again.
This needs to happen swiftly and often in cases where the evidence of guilt is overwhelming. The more swiftly the executions happen, the bigger the deterrent will be for others.
Oh...and the executions should be public, with a public reading of the charges and evidence, followed by; “To ensure the safety of society, we are now permanently removing this criminal threat from among us”.

Agreed. We need mental institutions in place in order to function. In addition to protecting society from the violent lunatics out there, I believe it’s cruel to place people who are clearly incapable of caring for themselves out into the ‘real’ world, where they very predictably fail and suffer miserably. Savages show their true selves when they are the only ones in a room or an enclosed space. They are the ones in control, and their true selves come out.
Their reptile brains can project only 3 seconds into the future and they can’t think about the consequences of their actions.
But what good is it to write this? It will be swept from the media in a few days and there will be another similar crime and Iryna will be forgotten.
