Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired a general whose agency’s initial intelligence assessment of damage to Iranian nuclear sites from U.S. strikes angered President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the decision and a White House official.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse will no longer serve as head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.
The firing is the latest upheaval in military leadership and in the country’s intelligence agencies, and comes a few months after details of the preliminary assessment leaked to the media. It found that Iran’s nuclear program has been set back only a few months by the U.S. strikes, contradicting assertions from Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a news conference following the June strikes, Hegseth lambasted the press for what he claimed was an anti-military bias but did not offer any direct evidence of the destruction of Iranian nuclear production facilities.
Earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the Air Force’s top uniformed officer, Gen. David Allvin, planned to retire two years early. And the Office of the Director of National Intelligence — which is responsible for coordinating the work of 18 intelligence agencies, including DIA — announced that it would slash its staff and budget.
The firing of Kruse was first reported by The Washington Post.

Didn’t the Iranians themselves basically confirm that their nuclear program was totally destroyed?..............
It’s not so much what he said, it’s that he said anything before having complete intelligence data. That’s a lousy way to run an intelligence agency.
Good riddance!
Had nothing to do with competence, just because Trump didn’t like what he said. Really AP? Yer so fulla cowpoop.
So say KONSTANTIN TOROPIN, MARY CLARE JALONICK and MICHELLE L. PRICE of AP who hate Trump and want him to fail at the expense of America and her people.
I take what they say with a grain of sand.
“.... according to the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.”
Apparently there are some others who need firing as well.
The kiddies at AP never disappoint. Trump 2.0 is not going to put up with saboteurs inside the gates.
Not a good move without complete transparency about the data that formed the basis of an intelligence decision. Without that data these kind of acts can be just firing the messenger, when possibly the messenger had the data backing up the message. This case begs for transparency in proof exposing the “error” if there was one.
Getting mere yes men for top intelligence positions will not instill public confidence in the intelligence.
Trump is starting to become a president who simply cannot take bad from within his own administration, whether or not there is grounds for it.
,
Ya,
urinalist
KONSTANTIN TOROPIN,
And one of the

MARY CLARE JALONICK
Or

So , fake news.
” Mad at”, “ fired”
A pathetic attempt at conflation , .
Are you still sad that your vote for Kamala didn’t work out?
In years, these strikes have been the first to really nre called strikes, and not just a Tomahawk launcher here or there, as a photo op “oo lookie what the Prez did!’
Themselves days, “career officers”, aka I doing my 20 and go fishing”
Vs
Officemrs enjoy embody their office as their own.
Or is Buck Private even an official military rank?
Annie Nominous is about as trustworthy as Abbie Normal.
Konstantin Toropin used to work at cnn......which explains it....after I read that I didn’t bother researching the other two propagandists.
They had to be very pro-gay/trans, DEI, woke, Affirmative Action—or they would never have been promoted to that level.
“””They had to be very pro-gay/trans, DEI, woke, Affirmative Action—or they would never have been promoted to that level.””””””
So it gives Secretary Hegseth a good excuse to get rid of them.
Two possible translations -- 1) leakers, and/or 2) liars.
Combined with the fact his assessment was 180 degrees off the mark.
“Are you still sad that your vote for Kamala didn’t work out?”
You’re an idiot. I voted for Trump. That does not make me an automatic yes man for anything he does. When you have no discernment left except that Trump is doing it, so it must be O.K., then you’ve stopped thinking for yourself.
