Cracker Barrel shed almost $100 million in market value after its stock plunged Thursday following the release of a new logo. The new design eliminates a longstanding drawing of an overall-clad man leaning against a barrel, in favor of a cleaner logo featuring just the chain's name.
Shares of Cracker Barrel fell $4.22, or 7.2%, to $54.80 in Thursday trading, shedding $94 million in market value. The stock had dipped to a low of $50.27 earlier in the day, representing a loss of almost $200 billion in its capitalization.
Wall Street's reaction to the logo redesign comes as Cracker Barrel has been working to refresh its image through new menu items and redecorated stores that eschew the 55-year-old chain's old-timey approach in favor of a more modern look.

This rebrand was a completely retarded idea, and delivered at the worst time.
You have to wonder if they sometimes push bad ideas to push the stock down in value so it can be bought up cheaply?
Never eaten there. What do they serve?
I was watching Podcaster Barry Cunningham when it was dropping
He was in marketing in his former life. This was a bonehead move by the Wokesters in the company
That logo was their Brand that didn’t need changed
Ate the just once. Average American fare
Cheap carbs.
Comfort food. Big breakfasts
the logo was lame. if you are going to change it then go bold not safe
if they are worried about woke stuff they may want to revisit the name itself. i mean - ‘cracker’ - barrel? that is if they are worried about such silly stuff
Not as good as it used to be.
Comfort foods, mostly. I prefer Bob Evans.
Literally named after a cracker barrel. The previous logo had Uncle Hershel leaning against one of these cracker barrels that stored the soda crackers (now more commonly called saltine crackers) that were sold at the old country stores.
Now they’ve removed both Uncle Hershel and the cracker barrel from the cracker barrel logo. Actually very disrespectful to the family that founded the restaurant.
Welll…… 👋
Brilliant leadership. Bravo.
Why would anyone squander such recognisable capital built at such cost and spend even more money to do it?
Go Woke
Whew...such "inflammatory rhetoric" on the part of Matt Walsh.
He's right, though. They even changed the doors and door handles to just be standard office door style. Very "institutional" looking.
What’s IMPORTANT here not that they did this stunt as execs, who almost always live straight lives, with wives and kids, get a VERY DISTORTED view of America when all they have their 15 Minutes to “catch the news” on NBC, on their way to Mahogany Row (heck, most probably think that Ukraine is winning, LOL).
What’s important is that the stock immediately took a dive when they unveiled this stunt. Only a year ago the stock price would have at least maintained its value...so people now are watching and reacting, and the ‘safe’ move for these execs, buckling to Leftists, is not so safe any longer. That’s HUGE progress on our side.
Changing the Best Western spelled out, lariat and crown to a button BW seemed to bother only me
This is right up there with that idiot she-manfreak who took down Bud Light.
I hope the people who signed off on this loose their retirements.
I am sick of these a-hole punks thinking their opinions are what is good for everyone. Typical liberals. F them.
And f her ugly a$$ stupid glasses.
